Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

@Spash: Ah, but if he was stupid and annoying, BUT he contributed significantly to the plot, that's not exactly pointless is it?
Don't take that too seriously, please.
Any sequel has to grapple with introducing new characters and their assorted motivations. I guess it comes down to what is the best conflict for the story they're telling with these characters.

That's also kind of ridiculous because from what I've seen tumblr fucking LOVES the Flash. And the MCU movies too, most of which are led by white males.
The fact that people are complaining about the Iris plot has nothing to do with Barry being white and more to do with the writers stretching it out over such ridiculously long period that it's crushing the suspension of disbelief.

Just an idea: How about watching Ao U before making any judgements about the plot or if the trailer showed too much? It's less than a month now....

Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I like that they seem to be playing up his smug jerk aspect.
Since we may never get Namor, we need that from somewhere.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
Wait, what?
Isn't the general definition of "one-upping something" essentially "to do something better than the last thing"?
Unless you're mean that Marvel's probably not gonna be thinking "Ooh, how's our Quicksilver gonna top DOFP Quicksilver?" but more like "What can we do with our Quicksilver to make him just as cool, if not even more cool, than what Fox came up with?"?

Neither, as both options you give are based on the idea Marvel needs to one-up Days of Future Past. The ideal is that Marvel went into the film thinking "How do we make Quicksilver a good character in this story we are telling?" No attempt to match what happened in the X-Men film.
That Quicksilver DOFP scene was both awesome and sad.
Awesome for obvious reasons. Sad because it demonstrated how broken the character was. Seriosly, Peter could have resolved the whole plot in, literally a few minutes, if not less.
Also, I don't think Comics! Quicksilver, barring Ultimate Marvel and some recent upgrades, was ever that fast. I believe Ultron, Hulk, Spider-Man and even Magneto were able to tag him in the past. But still... it really was a cool scene.

No, he's not even close. Quicksilver tops out at like the speed of sound. They turned him into the Flash in this movie, just because.

Well, those bullets were moving slower than the speed of sound, and they were still moving when Quicksilver was in super-speed mode, so I would say that he was moving slower than the speed of sound.

The world will look up and shout "Save us", and I'll look down and whisper "Too bad, Waluigi Time" Vote Loki 2016That doesn't actually make sense. You can't say something is slower than the speed of sound just because it's significantly faster than something else slower than the speed of sound.
It's weird to see Nat with Cap's shield. Also, Hawkeye's line and Thor's intentional missed hammer catch were cool.
I'd like to see more use of the wind and rain powers from Thor.
Don't worry about that, he'll also sing this:

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectDon't get me wrong, the Quicksilver scene is the high point of Days of Future Past. I personally think that this single scene is the main reason why so many people are all over the movie, overlooking it glaring flaws. And one of them is this scene. It has been already pointed out before, but again: This Quicksilver is way too powerful. He is a walking plot solution. The only thing Marvel has to do to trump Fox is to ensure that the character has limitations and a well defined skill-set. At least that's what would be the most important part for me.

The fact that they have not shown her speaking one word makes me worried that her accent is 'TERRIBLE.

Are we having this debate again?
But for sake of conversation, the prequel they put out about the Scepter does lend to it being something other than just powered by the Cube. It's mentioned that nobody has an explanation for how they are related and when the scientist working on it finally does find an answer, he says "Could it really be that simple?" before being shot.
So if it were just a generic weapon powered by the Cube (like Steve implies in the first film) I don't think there'd be this much mystery and emphasis on hiding what it really is.
It also makes Age of Ultron as a whole seem like less of a Bizarro Episode in the grander scheme of things if it is connected to the larger Infinity Gem storyline.
