Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Awful video...it doesn't even bother to cast a critical eye on the oh so golden time of the first Superhero movies, and the double standard in the analyses is obvious.
I'll predict something: As long as Marvel keeps up the current quality, the craze won't die. Because they don't just make Superhero movies. They make movies for the general audience. They make movies which are good, independent from the question of the are a good adaptation or not. You don't need to know the comics to enjoy Guardians of the Galaxy. You don't even need to know the other Marvel movies.
The other companies are another matter, though. My prediction is that both, DC and Fox will fall out of the competition first now the Sony teamed up with Marvel. One has to start a franchise late and the other is late in the franchise and has by this point a construct only the people who have been fans of the X-men from the get go can follow. It only depends on the quality of Batman vs Superman who will have to give up first.
"Well, I think I can absolutely confirm it's Ulysses Klaw now because I think the news is out," said Serkis. "I sort of noticed that people [on the red carpets] sort of knew that I was Ulysses Klaw, so I thought 'It must be out then'... [My part] was really minimal, but I just loved doing it; it's a great character."
Collider has posted interviews with Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson where the Maximoff twins discuss their characters' accents and point of origin.
"Can I talk about it? It’s something we got to create because it’s a make believe place," said Olsen. "So it’s something that Aaron [Taylor-Johnson] and I with the dialect coach got to create together." When asked about the name of the made up place, Olsen responded, "That I can’t talk about. But I got to make it up, so yeah."
"Me and Lizzy [Elizabeth Olsen] have been doing dialect coaching together and trying to get that to sound similar considering that we’re playing twins, brother and sister," said Taylor-Johnson. "But you know, her being American and me British. But yeah, it’s fun, when I spoke to Joss [Whedon] about it a lot time ago and he approached me for the role, it was one of the things I kind of wanted to keep, you know…one of them was I wanted to have white silver kind of hair to look like the character and the other one was that I could kind of embrace the roots of where he’s from, you know, being Eastern European, it would be great to do some kind of accent to enhance that kind of feeling so I’m glad that we’re doing it. But like I said [laughs], they might screen it and they might go 'what are they saying?' so you never really know. So I’d like to think they’ll keep it that. But with the Marvel guys, they understand, when it comes down to the characters, you know, they’re a studio that really cares about their characters, and they have real creative input, and are totally for that, but at the end you always want what’s best, so we’ll see. Hopefully we’ll continue on that route."
Hodari Coker
(Southland and Ray Donovan) will act as showrunner for the Luke Cage series.
Well, I'm certainly not complaining about shirtless Thor.
Not quite sure why Audi are promoting using Ao U though.
I still don't know if I like the Tron Lines on Natasha's costume or not. On the one hand they make her look more like a proper superhero. On the other hand, as with Hawkeye she's also not necessarily the kind of character a more "campy" look like that fits.

MARVEL now has a bankable fan base and it's going to take an awful lot of effort to alienate that fanbase. If there's a flop in one franchise, they can just continue others (Like they did with Incredible Hulk) The general audience might loose interest, but all that will do is mean the films with have a smaller budget.
Really, the only thing I can foresee breaking MARVEL's business model is the industry changing; either by new distribution methods or new technology changing the plausibility of what they're currently doing.
