Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Probably. It looks like they tried to simplify her powers beyond 'Whatever the plot requires'.

It's probably a little early for magic. They're probably waiting for Doctor Strange to go into that.
Anyway, this gave us some interesting insight into Wanda's character. I'm really looking forward to this.

Oh God! Natural light!Interesting.
Watching The Nostalgia Critic's review of Daredevil got me thinking.
The whole "Matt Murdock being able to tell when someone's bluffing by hearing their heart rate" thing, was that one of his normal superpowers in the comics?
It is, isn't it?
EDIT: Also, does Foggy Nelson usually know about Matt being DD? No, right?

He knows now, but when though a long period where he didn't. He found out when Daredevil's identity was revealed to the world.
Funny bit: in reading his wikipedia article to check that, I just found out that Matt once tried keeping his identity secret by pretending to be his own twin brother, which might be the poster for "desperate con idea that no one ever buys." It apparently worked, too. For a while.

DareDevil's secret identity has been an open secret for a while. He's had to put that genie back in the bottle three times, and people long since stopped believing his claims of not being DareDevil. There was a long period where he'd wear shirts saying "Not DareDevil" and insist he wasn't, while random people on the street addressed him as DareDevil and inquired about recent superhero events and stuff.
On one occasion, Spider-Man swung down and started a conversation with him in broad daylight in the middle of a crowd because he forgot Murdock technically had a secret identity, Paper-Thin Disguise as it was. Every now and then, you'd hear mention of things like two characters meeting "at Matt Murdock's Totally Not DareDevil Barbecue."
He's since let go of even the Paper-Thin Disguise and is publicly DareDevil, because there are only so many times you can be outed before your secret identity is Lost Forever.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub....Thanks for answering my second question.
But to avoid having my original question buried, I'll just ask again:
The whole "Matt Murdock being able to tell when someone's bluffing by hearing their heart rate" thing, was that one of his normal superpowers in the comics?
It is, isn't it?
Or if the person just has a out-of-pace heart, an actual medical condition (that I'm probably misnaming) in which the person's heart beats in a irregular manner, skipping beats at random. Which essentially renders heart-rate-lie-detectors even more useless than they already are.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
So it was a thing in the comics. Good, I was starting to think that maybe it was something they put for the movie.
Anyway, something else I wanted to ask. Emma Stone as Black Cat. Something that can work given what they're planing for Spidey in the MCU? Or one of those "if only" scenarios?
Don't know if anyone's getting sick of talking about the possibility of having ASM alumni showing up in the MCU in some form, but let's be honest, who wouldn't want to see Emma in the MCU?

IIRC, Marvel wanted a teenager for Spidey, but Sony wanted some 20-something year old...unless my memories are a little off?
Has Black Cat ever been established as being older than Peter or about the same age or what?
...Yeah, no offense, but I'm kinda not really seeing what that has to do with anything that I asked.
Also, anybody think the MCU will take a stab at the Hobgoblin since Sony apparently thought there was only one Goblin related Spidey villain?
Bit of a random question, but did he mention Toph Beifong at all? I only ask because he's an Avatar fan and I can see him at least making one reference.
Oh God! Natural light! Not said if it's been stated in the classic Marvel Universe or not, but in other cases, it varies: the Ultimate Spider Man comic has her older, Word of God said the Cat in The Spectacular Spider-Man is 19, and both Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane and Spider-Man: The Animated Series have her as the same age (and in the former case, the same grade).
