Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

All she says is "It looks like I just traded the KGB for HYDRA". That doesn't necessarily mean she went directly from one to the other, and it doesn't explicitly say she had a long career with the KGB. Just that she worked for them, and then worked for SHIELD/HYDRA.
It's easy to take from what she says that "the KGB" is an umbrella term, a category that, for her, encompasses any morally dubious organizations she may have worked for before SHIELD. As for why she'd do that; she probably either didn't want to clutter up the analogy, or spend too much time reflecting on how many bad people she's worked for when she now has to add HYDRA to that same list.
Again, ignoring that nowhere is it said she spent a long time working specifically for the KGB and that she could very well have gone directly from one to the other.
Wait why would people be up in arms if Natasha were older than Bruce?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersMen are supposed to be older and taller so we have actors standing on boxes.
Reality doesn't match preconception so we play tricks of perception and feed that preconception.
This is how a rational world works.

People still seem to be operating under the assumption she's Older Than She Looks like in the comics, even though there's little indication that's the case in the films.
As was said Winter Soldier even provided evidence that it's explicitly not the case here.

I suppose she might also want more out of a guy than abs so complaining that 'she could get guys built like the Falcon' is a bit weird anyway.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersDo we know she's still terrified of him though? That situation stemmed from him attacking and trying to kill her so of course she was visibly shaken and upset, but we don't know if it's lasting enough that she wouldn't ever want to be around him.
Even by the end of the movie she welcomes him when he shows up to help fight the Chitauri.
He is. Sorry, Andrew Garfield. Here's hoping The Social Network 2 works out for ya.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

Or the KGB is still active in the Marvelverse.
