Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Exactly. It is very self contained, it would work wonders as a movie. And there is even easy things to cut off too. All that vampire nonsense is pretty extraneous.
In another topic, that Avenger Academy talk got me thinking about Quicksilver. I wonder how they will portray him in the movie. I really hope they make him the self centered, arrogant Jerk with a Heart of Gold he is in the comics. It will help to differentiate him from that character in the other movie and, frankly, that personality of his is what I find really interesting about him.

Yes.
But then I also want Hawkeye to be kind of a jerk.
In comic the vampire thing was just displaying that Alex was manipulative and that the Runaways weren't really jelling as a team and also we need a fight scene but you're right. Other ways to do those things.

Forever liveblogging the Avengers@Heatth: I think in some interviews he's been described as an irritable jerk because everything moves too slowly for him.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectAnd then introduce Namor whose jerkiness blows theirs out of the water.

Perfect! That description even comes directly from the comics (an iconic X Factor issue, if I remember correctly).
Sure. The more jerks the better. Then they can abandon the Avengers name and go by "Ultimates" instead.

Nah. Except for in the Silver Age (where he really was the biggest jerk in existence), Jameson is typically characterized as a relatively decent person who has several... stubborn and outright obsessive areas. And is a skinflint with a huge ego, but still. Decent.

J.K. Simmons should remain Jameson for as long as they make Spider-Man movies. He is simply the role incarnate.
Speaking of Spider-Man casting... I've been watching Season 3 of House of Cards, and I was wondering; would anyone else love to see Kevin Spacey as Norman Osborn? The man gives me chills, he can pull off both manipulative and power-hungry. And most importantly, he has style enough that you can believe he would rise to power in spite of the first two things.
I say do not dare to speak against our Lord, you faithless heathen, for Stan Lee rules supreme over all of us, mortals, and you owe him great respect!
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Now that I think about it, the Daily Bugle itself would be a cool thing it have be in the MCU without necessarily having Spidey around - kind of like a very minor Greek Chorus. I always liked the EMH episode where it was Captain America getting laid into by Jameson with Spidey commenting on it.
If we do get a lot more Bugle action in the main upcoming Spidey series, I really hope Robbie finally gets a good role. I always liked that guy.
Steve Ditko for J Jonah Jameson.

She used them on some of Pierce's guards while disguised as the Councilwoman. They stay out cold for the rest of the scene.
That scene amuses me in part because one of the guards who gets zapped, Rollins, is the same guy who got decked in the face by Cap in the elevator the day before. The poor guy can't seem to catch a break.
