Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Next to nobody knows the core Inhuman team, so they have a lot of freedom there, and they apparently intend to go for an Asian origin...I wouldn't be surprised if they do a colorblind casting for the roles. Well, except for Medusa, I guess she needs to be a convincing redhead.

I believe she even jokes about that when she first appeared in Spider-Verse. She's introduced as "Spider-Gwen" and responds: "Whoa, hey! I know's it's an alternate universe, but I've still got to keep a secret identity."
Our wiki lists the name as Ascended Fanon but I have no idea if that's true.
The only "set in stone" Inhumans for the movie/s are probably Black Bolt, Medusa, Maximus the Mad, Crystal and Lockjaw. The rest are probably going to be either changed from how they looked or acted in the classic comics or the "new generation" of Inhumans.

I suspect they will have the younger generation just because Agents of SHIELD is running with the idea established in the 2014 series that there are seemingly "normal" people who actually have ancient Inhuman lineage.
My personal theory is they will use one or more of the newer Inhuman kids as an Audience Surrogate for when they introduce the royal family and their society. Sorta like how X-Men starts with Wolverine and Rogue and uses them to introduce the whole wider world of the X-Men and Brotherhood.

With Mayday also changing to Spider-Woman, there are a lot of Spider-Women running around currently.
Also, I wonder if they use Maximus, whether they'll play him similarly to Loki.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf they do him anything like he was in DnA!Guardians of the Galaxy

What's weird about the GOTG movie is that Rocket claims that Groot is, in fact, just saying "I am Groot" over and over again, due to having a shit vocabulary. He's not speaking another language or anything. And yet Rocket understands what Groot intends to say with ludicris precision.
How the fuck does that work?
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. The same way people understand what R 2 D 2 says.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Perhaps everyone else has translators (I only remember it explicitly stating that Quill had one but I presume they all do) which are more dictionary-like and only translate languages whoever made them could speak but Rocket has a better one which is almost babelfish (ie: basically psychic) in working.
Thanks for showing me those, because now I know that Maximus (the Mad) is awesome.
Admittedly less awesome when he's building Terrigen Bombs for Thanos (as he was when I was introduced to him) but still pretty awesome.
That is the question. They were adamant about keeping Coulson out of the movies but I don't think her situation would be quite as prone to Continuity Lock-Out if you just give a rundown of who she is.
The Inhumans are weird because I think this is the first time the MCU has introduced a property in the TV show with plans to lead into a movie rather than vice versa.
I wouldn't really consider it a "lead-in". It's introducing the concept to a small portion of the audience, five years before it's relevant to the movies.
Chloe Bennet's appearance would be dependant on what their plans are for Skye on the show, and if Agents of SHIELD even lasts long enough that she's still relevant by the time we get there.
Depending on what they do with Skye, her being the Inhumans movie might even be likely. It helps that unlike Coulson, or even arguably the big heroes they're introducing in the Netflix shows, Skye doesn't really have a backstory or mythos that would be difficult to coincide with showing up in a movie without any previous appearances. They could give her a token introduction the same as they're likely going to give most of the other Inhumans they would be introducing in that movie.
Being Chinese, I just want more Asian heroes. Big Hero 6 is fine, but do more you know?

Also why all the polls and articles narrow it to Peter and Miles: likely because of the huge discussion that came around last time involving Donald Glover and how that in particular was very firmly entrenched in a "Is the world ready for a Spider-Man who is not a white guy?" rhetoric and discussions about racism in fandom. A female Spider-lead would probably bring up similar discussions but most people are focusing on the race one because that was the big discussion last time.
Something like Spider-Girl could be an out of left field choice but if Sony and Marvel really were considering a "non-traditional" Spider-Man the media probably feels that's a safer bet.
