Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Sorta. But they did born at one point. Wanda created the magically by picking up random souls from hell or something like that. But then they disappeared because some weird magical story (I think a demon came to claim the souls back). Eventually the avengers figured out the souls reincarnated into two random guys, Billy Kaplam and Tommy Shepherd.
The problem is that both boys are teenagers of, at last 15 years. And the events with Wanda having and losing their children can't have happened more than a few years ago.
Yup. And they look just like uncle Pietro also (which means they look like Magneto as well).
Incidentally, that was how they figured out they were Wanda's magical children. They noticed that Tommy looked like Billy twin and that they just happened to have the same power set as the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (and that they just happened to have the same name as Wanda's "dead" children).

The Young Avengers are big on legacy names. All team members(dead or alive)codenames:
- Iron Lad(really Kang)
- Patriot
- Hulkling
- Marvel Boy
- Miss America
- Prodigy
- Speed
- Wiccan(or Asgardian as he called himself at first)
- Hawkeye
- Loki(who is actually not the good and nice Kid Loki he says he is)
- Stature
- Vision(the real one edit:
D'oh!)

I always forget that. Chavez actually has the same codename as a WWII hero IIRC.
He called himself Marvel Boy until someone said he was a disgrace to the name Vell IIRC which was a big deal to him since Mar-Vell was pretty much the greatest Kree hero ever.

The only exceptions are America and Prodigynote , both from the most recent book. Gillen's run was awesome in many ways, but that was one criticism I had. Two of the characters he introduced there didn't really fit the YA theme.
EDIT:Never mind, apparently Miss America was a character back in the 40s. And Prodigy was a character in the 90s. But the YA characters are not connected to nor inspired by them, so it still feels a bit weird.

The best/worst thing about the stupid Wanda babies thing is that it was part of a West Coast Avengers storyline with a villain called Master Pandemonium that they kept fighting.
His power was that he could turn his arms and legs into demons, leaving him with sleeves and pantlegs just sort of dangling. He had sold his soul to Mephisto and was trying to get all the chunks back and had a star shaped hole in his chest where the soul would go, of course.
The West Coasties tangled with him a few times as part of some nonsense going on with Tigra's cat soul.
So it turns out that the two kids were two chunks of his soul and he came and took them. But then it turned out it wasn't his soul, it was part of Mephisto because he's a dick.
That's not really important but its funny how involved the whole nonsense is.
Edit: That info was mostly in the link already. I just liked Master Pandemonium except his part of the whole babies thing. He was so amazingly goofy.

Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
America is weird because she's technically a Legacy Character but at the same time isn't. She's using the original Miss America's name but Kieron Gillen said she's probably not even aware there was a Golden Age Miss America because her whole thing is she really doesn't give a fuck about superheroes.
Revealing interview with Chris Hemsworth
.
- Thor is mostly divorced from Asgard and living with the Avengers. Ultron starts off as a personal threat but Thor is the one who begins to realize this may all be connected and part of something that goes as far back as Avengers 1.
- Thor and The Vision will have a Let's You and Him Fight scene when they first meet.
- We'll see Thor fly more.
- Thor's ancient knowledge apparently becomes extremely useful to the conflict with Ultron.
- Ultron will be Thor's equal and able to fight him hand to hand.
- As we know, Scarlet Witch forces the Avengers to face their biggest fear. Thor's is becoming corrupted by power, much like Loki was.

Chris Evans might change his mind in a couple of years, but currently he wants to get out of acting and start directing instead. But who knows...if Marvel offers him a directing gig in change for him doing one or two additional movies in-between....the popularity of The Winter Soldier and his character might help to sway him, too. Tough he might need a break from the character in any case.
I'm expecting him to die in Civil War, and for his appearance in Avengers 3 to be post-mortem. Meaningful flashbacks, maybe a brief interaction with him from beyond the grave via the Soul Gem, etc.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I'm kind of hoping he survives Civil War, and then dies heroically in Infinity War (possibly even defeating Thanos in the climax of Part 2 by doing so).

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryOne way or another, I expect him to be alive and kicking in Infinity War, whether it's because he survived Civil War or Time/Soul Gem shenanigans.
Because that moment of him fighting Thanos in the original Infinity Gauntlet storyline is too cool not to adapt.

Perhaps they could foreshadow it at the end of Civil War. For example in the post-credit sequence we see a character who is explicitly from the future (for example Tony Stark in a battle-worn Iron Man costume) appear and take Captain America's body into the future where the technology to revive him exists.
I wasn't suggesting him coming back to life. I was suggesting a post-mortem appearance. Say, at a fateful moment, the Soul Gem allows Cap to speak to the Avengers and inspire them from beyond the grave or something.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I was thinking alternatively, it could be the opposite, where Part 1 is a newer team (given that pretty much everyone involved has said the end of Age of Ultron sees a change-up of the roster) and then the originals coming back for Part 2.
So a lot of the sites are placing odds on what the big announcement will be. The consensus for likely choices seems to be
- Another AOU trailer.
- Confirmation that he's extended his contract to include Infinity War.
- Spider-Man casting news.
- Carol Danvers casting news (if she's debuting ahead of her own movie like Black Panther).
- Iron Man 4 (I'd be disappointed if that's the case).
- Some concept art and official casting announcement for Civil War.

Scarlett Witch's kids are named... Wiccan and Speed. Like, after herself and her brother.
Ugh.
