Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

My vote is Peter Parker.
Non-white Peter Parker.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThe idea behind Peter Parker was that he represented the average reader, who, up until that point hadn't seen a major character which resembled them in this medium yet. Peter Parker is too engrained in the status quo to continue to fulfil his original mandate; he's no longer a comic book fan looking into the Marvel Universe, he is the biggest part of it. The current Peter Parker in the 616 universe is Kamala Khan.
Kamala Khan should be spider-man
Or Ms. Marvel, that also works.
I would take a Kamala Khan movie.
The way I see it, superheroes already have fans in the Cinematic Universe; Saving NY from an alien invasion tends to do that.
Hell, if they're going to introduce a bunch of heroes for civil war have her be one of them. She is exactly what would happen if a fangirl got superpowers.
Yeah, Kamala falls under the category of characters who need reasonable set-up. She's good and currently popular so I wouldn't be surprised if they bring her in once everything is ready for it but I wouldn't want her in without Cap M being established first. I kind of want some of the YA to show up but they're even more entrenched in other people's backstories (although I think we are getting regular power-less child Cassie).

So, if I've been paying attention to this conversation correctly, the reigning vote is Kamala Khan for Spider-Man.
I support this.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I'd really like to make my MCU as uncomplicated as we can and time travel is not going to help that. And it's not just because I hate time travel. Even though I really really really hate time travel.
It's also because can we really afford to alienate the general audience even ore with complications such as kids from the future? The MCU has been doing a great job easing people into the weirdness comic book superheroes have to deal with, but I'm not sure we've reached "Paradoxes" yet.
The Blog The Art
Fair enough. I just like time travel stories.

Well, it is not like Wiccan and Speed origins is any better. It is, in fact, more confusing. I still not sure how the hell they are that old. At last time travel is something you can follow, instead of a vague "magic" explanation.
I think it is just more likely we never get the YA in the movies in the first place.

Time travel is always problematic, even if it is pulled off well. There is a reason why JK Rowling felt the need to destroy all the time turners after Po A...otherwise it always begs the question why the heroes don't do it all the time. So if the MCU ever decides to use it (they might, after all, one of the infinity gems is the time stone), they'll hopefully smart enough to do it in a way that it is clear from the get go that this is a one-time occurrence and that there is a reason why the heroes travel to a certain point in time and not earlier. After all, consider how much problems could be avoided just by ensuring that Steve is found early on.
Well it doesn't have to be a "this can never happen again gais" so much as a "Hey wheres the time stone?" "Thor threw it into a black hole." "Why?" "Because he doesn't trust you with Time Travel Tony."
And if they ever want to use it again it just pops out of a wormhole into some supervillains lap because black holes are cray cray like that.
Good way to introduce Kang actually.

"War without fire is like sausages without mustard." - Jean Juvénal des UrsinsI think a Stable Time Loop solves most of the problems with time travel stories but they limit the plots you can have.

Isn't Kang one of the more iconic Avengers villains, though? Won't the movies want to use him at some point?
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon. That change so much about them that makes you wonder why use them in the first place. Although I guess it is possible to just ditch Speed and keep Wiccan, focusing on his relationship with Hulkling and, possible, him being the demiurge(but that is a alternate universe story, which is just as confusing as time travel).
