Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Warner Bros and Co. does have a habit of blaming the product, not their execution, and abandoning ship with extreme prejudice whenever something fails. It's what happened with Looney Tunes, and why it took them so long to really get back into the superhero movie game while Marvel swept everything.
DC can't really that now, though, because Marvel is proving that the superhero movie genre is working by way of piles of cash, and they're just going to start missing out on that money in a big way if they don't get with it.
On the subject of Rothman, I don't think it changes things too much. He was absolutely a major part of the Executive Meddling in Wolverine and may not care for superhero films, but I'm guessing he definitely cares for money. The landscape is much different than it was back in 2009, and I doubt even he could look at the amount of money superhero films gross and say "Yeah, fuck this we're not doing this."
There's a lot of people in Hollywood who don't care for comics or superheroes and yet still do them because they make a lot of cash. Not everyone is Doing It for the Art.

HYDRA secretly infiltrated Marvel during WW 2, and all comics printed since then have had hidden HYDRA propaganda.

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.

Whereas DC's strategy is that if you cut off one head, shit, we lost the head!
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
