Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

"We finally put him in purple, you can all shut up now."
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I'm kind of expecting to see the Punisher show up as an antagonist for one of the current Netflix shows in order to test the waters.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The Punisher is always a good Foil to Daredevil, so that might be a good idea.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Don't we already know most of the heroes for after phase 3? Provided that their movies work, I guess we can safely assume that we'll see movies with Dr. Strange, Antman, Captain Marvel, The Winter Soldier, Falcon, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and maybe Hulk or Black Widow. And naturally with the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Inhumans. And that's not counting the Spider-man movies.
I'll do a big post on genres and directions they can take the comics I've read tomorrow(because I'm sick and tired and need something to do with my time while I'm sick so there might be a few mega posts here tomorrow)but I'll post a short one now: Sci-Fi War(is hell) Movie.

Now, that looks like a way to finish a season (hopefully a season and not a series....)
I look forward to your post tomorrow Lord Of Lore
I think a proper western samurai revenge genre film would be easy to do in the MCU. It's also a format which can be applied to a lot of properties; as long as the characters have a lack of no-killing rule and have enough power to circumvent the law.
Moonknight would work really well for that actually... though I think he'd probably work better in the Defenders.
There was the rumor that formed that the Punisher appeared in The Winter Soldier after the directors joked
they were going to make a short about the man who drove the Penske truck that saved Fury and killed Sitwell, claiming he's "He’s got a plan and a very specific skill set."
Though personally I don't think that's possible, because there's no way the Punisher could have known Sitwell was going to fly out the window or since he did nothing else to help Fury and Steve.
Not saying it's him either, but I will note that anyone with an outside perspective rather than the one we shared with the protagonists should have been able to see the Winter Soldier on the car. Sitwell getting thrown into traffic was telegraphed by Bucky moving to throw him into traffic.

True, but for all he knew Winter Soldier would have reached in the right window, not the left, or just shot everyone inside the car. The Penske truck was driving in the opposite direction from the heroes. You think it'd be following them instead if it were trying to help them. And if he knew Sitwell was a bad guy he should have also picked up that there's a reason the heroes had kept him alive and captive.
There was a line in AOS about how "Odin" (who unbeknownst to the protags is Loki) specifically ordered that an Asgardian criminal not be killed, but captured alive and brought back to Asgard.
If Loki is gathering villains/criminals for some reason then I imagine Enchantress and Executioner could appear.
Loki forms the Masters of Evil in the MCU?!
Also Enchantress has fallen victim to What Could Have Been twice so the fact that she was almost in two other films could bode well if the creators wanna use her that badly.

I suspect Marvel will eventually do something with the Punisher on Netflix since that seems to be their most viable route for MA superhero entertainment. I thought this shot of Hawkeye was pretty cool
