Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Makes sense to me. If they can't or don't want to get the license back, killing off Godzilla is a good way of making people stop asking for him to return.

So it looks like Pym is the black-helmeted Ant-Man from the test footage. [1]

Nooooo. I want Pym's Ant-Man to be red and blue spandex and a dumb, bulbous ant-helmet. Stop pretending costumes can't be both silly and cool!
My various fanfics.
Aww, now you're making me feel guilty for not watching it. Agent Carter is one of those shows that I'm vaguely aware is good, but the premise doesn't sound exciting enough to get me to jump out of my seat and run off to watch it right this second.
Unless you have a ratings box hooked up to your cable set, it wouldn't matter anyway.
Agent Carter is fantastic, but I guess it just doesn't appeal to that small sample size that are the only TV viewership that matter.

Give it a try. You might be surprised. (Ironically this might be the one Marvel entry which buckles the "nobody ever dies" trend...I mean, the show has only eight episodes, seven which aired so far, and there is an average of one death per episode, more than half of them actually being the good guys...and that's when I only count the characters we actually know by name).
Haven't watched it because it conflicts with The Flash, and I don't really like DV Ring stuff most of the time, but I think part of it being that she's only popular within a minority of the fanbase. Add in a combination of her adventures happening between Captain America and the modern day MCU plus us seeing her alive in Winter Soldier and the fate of other characters important to the show, fills it with false drama of her life being in danger. Also, there being the whole "HYDRA has been within SHIELD since day 1 the whole time", anything accomplished for the Greater Good would mean nothing.
Addition: Could just be me putting my disinterest in using established characters in action that takes place between established points in a timeline as the focal character into it.

Someone summed up the show's hard time very succinctly. It's a period show and a sci-fi show, and both of those elements tend to be hard sells to network audiences.
Also for all it's many, many, MANY faults, SHIELD at least had the benefit of Agent Coulson being in every damn movie and having a significant role in the Avengers, Marvel's most popular film. By the time his Spin-Off was announced people knew who he was, whereas Peggy had a major role in one film and then a brief cameo in another.
