Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Bring back Keith David as Tombstone!
Yep.
◊ In fact, he's surprisingly chatty.
I really love it when typically monstrous beings are not only able to talk, but intelligent and eloquent. It's something I like about Tolkein, but which only occasionally got used in the LOTR movies.

Oh God! Natural light!I agree with the people who say that they didn't get the complain about the skateboard and the supposed lack of nerdiness. I always thought that the skateboard was a great addition, because it made so much sense for Peter Parker. Let's face it, most people wouldn't feel comfortable swinging through the town like Spider-man does, superpowers or not. But a skateboarder? Totally see it. I also think that his brand of being an outsider felt way more realistic than the Maguire one, which was really the the hollywood version of a nerd.

I have been thinking about what I want from a Spider-man movie.
1. An actor with the right build
After Andrew Garfield I won't settly for a Spiderman which doesn't have long fingers and a lithe build.
2. A villain who is a villain by choice
Not another "guy goes crazy" story, I want a villain who choose to be one. Something more along of the line of Kingpin, Kraven the Hunter or Chameleon.
3. No romance
I loved the romance in TAS, but it would be nice to concentrate on Aunt May and Peter's friend for a first outing. There is time for romance later when he actually enters college.

That was something I never got either. I've been out of High School for about 7 years now, but I remember the people who got bullied dressed and acted more like Garfield than Mc Guire.
I think a lot of it comes down to Opinion Myopia though. Comic fans can be critical when it comes to the movies because they feel it should be written to cater to them. It leads to some really silly outrage stuff like people not wanting Ben Affleck as Batman, because he was already Daredevil.

See, my experience was the exact opposite. The bullied kids all looked and behaved like Mc Guire, the popular kids were all Flash, and the suck ups were pretty much all Garfield.
So you can imagine how ASM generally went over for me.

I really want to say Idris Elba if only because he kinda looked like JJJ in Pacific Rim.
But he's already Heimdall, and he's British.
