Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Well, the pacing of Ao S has really picked up in the second season...I keep expecting them to draw out of plot point, but nope, next episode they are already solved and they jump to the next one. Kind of refreshing.
It's not really a contest. I mean I've only had the opportunity to see the first two episodes of Agent Carter but a helluva lot more happened there and was more entertaining than the First two, or even 5 episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It took Ao S ages to find its stride, I could already see one in Agent Carter from what little was available to me and I can't wait to watch the rest when I get home this Friday.
The Blog The ArtI have been reading this and I thought I'd weigh in on the whole Peter Parker/ Miles Morales thing. I have yet to see Peter Parker on the big screen. I've seen some odd interpretations of the character, Peter not as such. Now there is a chance that the character can be done right and everyone wants to chuck him out in favor of Miles. There are 43 years during which there are some great stories most of which haven't been adapted. I'm not against Miles but I still want to see what can be done with Peter Parker in MCU hands.
I'm not against non white/non male leads. Give me the Runaways. I want the Thunderbolts. Give me Shang chi. I'd love to see the Young Avengers become a thing in the MCU. I want a She-hulk movie. Also Cloak and Dagger.
I get why Peter has become stale. He is a victim of comicbook time. At one point the character was allowed to grow and change. Then One More day happened. I'm all for retiring 616 Peter, but that doesn't mean good stories can't be told with him in the movies at this point.

Well, considering the entire 616 universe is getting retired, I think the writers agree with you about retiring 616 Peter... Oh course, we don't know that new-Marvel Peter will be allowed to change any more than 616 Peter, but here's hoping.
Speaking of ethnic characters in the MCU, y'know who I'd love to see in the Daredevil show? Echo
. She'd be easy to do on a TV budget, and Kingpin's already confirmed, so it's not like it wouldn't be hard to work her into, say, a two-parter based on the Marvel Knights comic.

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.
Well, joke's on Echo because she'll never hear from Daredevil again.
Wait, is that official? I haven't read comics in a few months.
I've been complaining that the whole "Decay of the Multiverse" storyline was clearly leading to a reboot for the better part of a year now and have received no end of people telling me to quit my naysaying because Marvel doesn't do that.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The current theory is that the new continuity is gonna be a mixture of the various timelines and alternate universes.
So basically Marvel's take on Crisis On Infinite Earths.
How much you want to bet this is just being done to make the comics more in line with the movies?
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Bringing the comics more in line with the movies, finally killing the Ultimate Universe like they've been promising for years but without sacrificing the parts everyone loves (by which I mean Ultimate Spider-Man), ending the complaints of Continuity Lock-Out that intimidates new readers, unwriting a variety of things that the New Alonso Regime wants cut out of continuity....
There are a lot of reasons to do a reboot. All of them are shitty and should not be resolved with a reboot because stupid universe reboots are DC's thing. But they're doing it, because f*ck it, the House of Ideas ran dry, and when you can't figure out how to write around the things you don't like, unwriting them is the hack's solution!
...man, finally having confirmation of my fears so I can be appropriately pissed off about them, this really takes me back. All the way to One More Day. DC Fans, we've been making fun of the Tom Welling Prime Punch for the better part of a decade now. You may open fire whenever ready.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Bendis summarizes it pretty well
◊ unlike most of Marvel's articles which say the same thing but 4 pages longer.

So will 616 Peter Parker and Ultimate Peter Parker who recently turned out to still be alive be merged into one character, then? That's kind of a shame. I really like Ultimate Peter, and I don't really consider him exactly the same person as 616 Peter...
Or maybe 616 and Ultimate Peter will just be considered dead, erased from history, non-canon, or whatever, and the new Peter will just be his own thing.
But then... how much continuity is being kept? They're not gonna retell everyone's origin stories, are they? Is Gwen still dead? Does Peter know Norman is Green Goblin? What about Ultimate characters who are totally different, like Venom? Is he an alien or a science experiment now? Have the Avengers formed yet in the new timeline?
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.![]()
If Miles and Peter are gonna be Spider-Man at the same time, I'd rather see them both operating as equal and wholly seperate spider-themed heroes. Peter doesn't need a sidekick and Miles doesn't need to constantly be in Peter's shadow.
So... any suggestions for giving Miles his own superhero name? I mean, they can't both be Spider-Man if they're alive at the same time. That's just confusing. Hmm... Spider-Boy, since he's younger than Peter?

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.
It'd still be confusing in-universe.
"Look, it's Spider-Man!"
"Which one, the black one?"
"*gasp* That's racist!"
"What? No, I meant he's wearing a black costume-"
"Don't speak to me, you filthy racist!"

Just so long as they don't do the origin story again...

Your friend is an Agents fan and their complaint is that nothing happens in Agent Carter? That seems backwards.
