Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'm also guessing they're going to go with whatever love interest Marvel is pushing for him right now, rather than Gwen or Mary Jane or anyone he's had in any of his other shows or adaptations.
I honestly can't keep track of who Marvel wants us to believe is Pete's true love now, though.
On an unrelated note, you know who's another cool character that is undisputably under Marvel's purview now that Spider-Man is in the fold: Julia Carpenter. That's another character I really started to like the more I learned about her, after first seeing her in Spider-Island.
I mean, there was a decent chance Marvel had her already, but with the whole Madame Webb thing and all it's nice to know there's no chance of her not being away from them.
Lets see, Mary Jane and Carlie are both 'peter makes life terrible lets avoid him' bus.
Anna Marie was more interested in Ock so finds this whole situation weird.
I guess Cindy 'Silk' Moon is going to be introduced into the movies then.
Spider-fans will be thrilled beyond belief.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersCurrent love interest for Peter is a girl called Silk who has her own book IIRC.
One of the books in their next big event that will "change things forever"(Secret Wars)is apparently about a Spider-Man who didn't sell his marriage to a devil and instead has a happy family. We've no idea what will happen to Peter after the event.
Or a movie where he's just friends with them.
Also *scans through tons and tons of Spider-man History* I'm sorry, as much as I don't care for romance elements, Parker's love life is a major facet of his stories because it play into the story of how difficult it is for him to live a balanced live between superheroing and having a job, going to school, socializing, and having a love life. It can be excised but *remembers 90s Spider-man cartoon* I haven't *remember Ultiamte Spider-man* seen it *remembers the Essential Spider-man omnibuses* yet *Remembers Spectacular Spider-man*.
Actually, it may be a major accomplishment if they don't focus on romance. It would be original, frankly.

The Blog The Art"I know I can trust you, Daredevil."
"Why not ask Tony Stark?"
"Did you see how he handled that mandarin thing? No, I'm going to stick with the guy that hits people with billy clubs."
Well, based on the current comics, they're back to teasing Peter and MJ reuniting.
I'd say go a third route and go classic with Peter being flirtsy with Betty Brant.

So...just to make sure we're on the same page here...
The new Spider-Man will show up in an upcoming MCU movie (cough most likely Civil War cough). And then, the next Spidey movie from Sony will use that Spidey, and will be canon with the MCU?
Maybe this one will start with Peter being Spider-Man for 1-2 years (a la Ultimate Spider-Man).
And maybe have it so that Gwen didn't di- (gets shot in the head).
Also, I looked up Logan Lerman.
...Yeah, I could see him as Peter.
