Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Almost as crazy as getting rid of their most popular hero.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Loki's an excellent, nuanced character, the fundamental issue is that some people (such as myself) prefer to think of him as a good person who descended into villainy and should stay there, while some other people think he's got a shot at redemption or think he's not evil at all.
The other major issue is that some people (such as myself) feel that the character's being overused to a blatant extent and overstaying his welcome.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."The only redemption I want to see for Loki is an adaptation of the Kid Loki storyline.
And I desperately want that. Maybe when Hiddleston gets bored of the character.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Given that adult Loki still has at least 4 more years left to him, the person who would make a good Kid Loki is probably way too young to play Kid Loki right now.
As unbelievable as Dawson Casting already is, it's a lot harder to Dawson Cast adolescents than teens.

Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.@Swanpride Peggy appeared in one film, one short film, had a bit part in Winter Soldier, will have a bit part in Ant Man, and a miniseries. It's not that big when you think about it, her only sizeable screentime came in First Avenger and Agent Carter. She also has (arguably, YMMV) a lot more of a character arc to explore than Loki's, who ran its course by the end of the Dark World (as a matter of fact if he died at the end of the film instead of usurping Odin's throne it'd be a decent ending for him). The real issue is when he's the main villain in three different films, and will play large roles in three more.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Each episode of Agent Carter is an hour long. A film is 2. Two episodes of Agent Carter is equivalent to one movie Loki has been in, and that's before taking into account that, as the lead protagonist of the series, Carter has a lot more screentime per installment than Loki does.
Despite the fact that their relative respect is inverted, television is a vastly greater role than film.

This has been often discussed here, but a lot of that has to do with the fact that the films tend to kill off their villains and Loki is one of the few exceptions. I mean like in the comics Staine is a recurring villain but he was killed in the very first Iron Man film.

Like I said, different purposes. The catch is Loki's purpose (in a few person's eyes) has already been fulfilled and he's just dragging the whole damn thing along.
Shiiiiit, if you think movie Fury's an asshole, wait till you meet Ultimate Nick Fury.
My various fanfics. So I managed to watch the first episode of Agent Carter yesterday.
Wow. Just wow.
It's really not afraid to poke into Sci-Fi territory when it wants to, does it? That bomb thing...just wow.
When they mentioned Leviathan, is that an alternate name for HYDRA or is it something else?
And the way Jarvis and Peggy talked in those diner scenes (talking to each other without facing each other), was that normal spy behavior in the 40's?
In case it wasn't obvious, I'm hooked.
