Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

15-second teaser for the Daredevil show:
Whoa.
15 seconds in and I already have my ticket for the hype train scheduled for tomorrow.
Also something occured to me. IIRC, in the comics, The Purple Man brainwashed Jessica Jones to go out and kill Daredevil. Is it possible we might get something similar in the Marvel Netflix shows?
I could have sworn I read that Luke Cage would be appearing in Jessica Jones, though.
Oh God! Natural light!Kostya: A "teaser trailer" is not the same as a "teaser for a trailer". The term refers to a short trailer shown earlier than a full theatrical trailer (which would be about two to three minutes) and released well ahead of the product, so as to get interest going. A teaser is first, while a theatrical is last. Some movies have several teaser trailers before their final full trailer.
This is a teaser for a trailer, but it's only one step removed, and it's also not really an especially new practice. It's been a thing for a couple years now. The first time I noticed it was I think two years ago when it seemed like they were doing them for every Super Bowl commercial that year.
It'd be neat if each series dovetailed into the one before it.
I mean, Luke Cage is gonna show up during AKA Jessica Jones, and I can't possibly imagine Danny Rand won't show up in Luke Cage.
And, hey, at the beginning of AKA Jones has retired from superheroing, maybe it's because she was brainwashed and doesn't want to risk that happening again by being someone worth brainwashing?

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies....um, gee, I dunno, doesn't Batman basically boil down to "a white guy punching things"?
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. Not defending the original statement, but this is an inaccurate description of Batman.
First of all, I think the intention behind the initial question had to do with the fact that Luke Cage's "costume" is basically just a yellow tee shirt. Unless you go back to his Power Man days for the silver headband.
Batman is more traditionally super-heroey, thanks to the mask, cape, utility belt, and underwear on the outside.
Leaving that aside, Batman is kind of famous for having a wealth of gadgets. He's never been just a guy punching things.
If you were going down this road (which, was a mistake to begin with, I think), it probably would have been better to ask if Captain America isn't just a white guy with a shield.

Oh shush. I'm having fun here.
Just think how it would simplify things.
Spider-Man would be "A teenager swings on a line, climbs buildings and lifts heavy things. And also punches people."
The Hulk would be "Wimpy scientist turns into a giant green monster that punches things REALLY DAMN HARD."

Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.I notice you didn't feel the need to say white teenager.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. The cool thing about Luke Cage is that he once committed an international incident over $200.
