Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

...I fell like someone did not do their research. Although Captain Britain is more on the "embodiment of his country" thing than America is; for a while, Britain's powers literally didn't work unless he was in Britain (or an alternate universe version - it seems like every universe with a Britain has a Captain for it, and they all hang out sometimes and are a corps for some reason). The marvel wiki article is quite good.
Yeah, he teamed up with Spider-Man and fought Arcade. This was significant as, prior to this time, Marvel UK comics didn't really seem to be canon to America's Marvel. He's an Avenger now (kinda) but he's basically guaranteed to turn up if somebody so much as mentions Britain.
S.T.R.I.K.E. (although they used that name for something else in Winter Soldier) or MI-13 would be quite good actually - see what other countries have been up to regarding supers.

To be honest the whole concept of "Captain Britain" rubs me the wrong way. Captain America already can be problematic, but at least America is a country which was built on certain ideals. If America already fulfilled those ideals is another question, but at least in the MCU Captain America stands for those ideals, not for America itself. So what would Captain Britain stand for? Colonaism? The lost rights of Aristocrats? I would rather buy into a "Captain French Revolution" than a "Captain Britain".
I'll say the argument about America is highly debatable and leave it at that. Neither country really has the moral high ground if we're talking about its founding and historical actions.
That's actually a good point since he is already basically Captain America's Transatlantic Equivalent.

Nevermind that mutant powers are derived from a person's genetics (inside the body they were born in). Freaky brain powers can do anything!
She's the one who had psychic powers and refined them to make a psychic blade (?????) and then just started doing that all the time?

Why didn't she just switch back?

Forever liveblogging the AvengersMarvel's insidious plan.
Or I guess just wait for the Inhumans movie. I very much doubt that AOS will be required watching to understand it.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnd I reckon they probably thought Mockingbird was too similar to Black Widow for the films. Hell her introduction fight is a Shout-Out to Black Widow's fight from Iron Man 2.
Captain Britain stands for the rich mythology of English folklore, being more focused on the magic of legend and literature than anything else. His powers are derived from his confidence; he is as strong as he thinks he is. If that sounds like a total f*cking cop-out for Strong as They Need to Be, that's because it totally is.
He's also a member of the Captain Britain Corps, a coalition of Captain Britains from every universe in the multiverse, united to defend the multiverse from cross-dimensional threats. And that is why introducing a Captain Britain to the MCU would not be a good idea at this time, because that's going to be a hard pill for a live-action audience to swallow.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

Maybe they could bring in Union Jack instead, and having him be the grandson of James Montgomery Falsworth who appeared in The First Avenger.
