Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It's a safe bet those Age of Ultron characters are in it, at least.

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.... Amora the Enchantress, Captain Mar-Vell, Noh-Varr, The Executioner, I was really surprised Wonderman didn't make it in...
Probably. It's just I had collected every single minifig and was rather disappointed I wouldn't be able to play with a character with superspeed In the Lego world.
They have an Avengers movie coming out of course they're going to put out something with the Avengers branding and focusing on that franchise in particular. They're not just gonna leave money on the table.
I'm honestly not entirely sure what the problem is.

I think it's weird too because the Lego Batman games have Flash, and these games love recycling gameplay mechanics. You'd think they could've just copy and pasted him in and changed his character model...
The first Lego Marvel game already had a huge focus on Avengers stuff. Everyone from The Avengers had on their movie outfits, the Helicarrier was prominent in the Hub world, Loki was a major villain... So now they're putting out a game that's even more Avengers, only (presumably) without all the other Marvel characters in it. Sounds like a cheap cash-in to me. If this game doesn't have anything to new to offer besides "based even more on the movies," why should anyone want to play it, exactly? If it really doesn't have any non-MCU characters, I'll probably skip this one unless it introduces some huge new gameplay mechanic or something (An actual combat system would be nice. Mashing the square button gets real old).

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.
So basically the game makers are assuming kids are too dumb to realize "Marvel = Avengers" so they have to make sure the Avengers are in the game's title and even more prominent than they already were? That's probably it. I'm not being sarcastic. That's probably the reason this Lego Avengers game exists.
Very little of Lego Marvel was based on the movies. It had plentiful Shout Outs, but that is not the same thing.
The Avengers shared equal screentime with the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and the X-Men, while the main villain was Doctor Doom and the final boss was Galactus, both of which are tied up in the Fantastic Four rights.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
It was based on the movies visually, at least (except for the Sony/Fox characters, who had their classic comic looks presumably for legal reasons). And, really, Marvel movies are more about the characters than the exact details of the story anyways. I can understand Lego Harry Potter or Star Wars wanting to recreate the movies' plots, but for the Avengers, I'm not sure how much difference it makes if it follows the plot of the movie exactly once you simplify everything to the point that Lego games do.
Also, I have to question that "equal screentime" claim. I'm pretty sure the non-Wolverine X-Men only got one level.

has been cast as Patsy Walker in A.K.A Jessica Jones.

Hellcat! I never expected to see her in the MCU.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. That's because that's most people's first exposure to the character. The TV shows and all-ages boos do that too.
Patsy Walker is interesting. I'm presuming she'll be an Expy / Suspiciously Similar Substitute since they can't use Carol Danvers. I know way back when this show was first announced the writer said Carol would be in it like the comics, but the movie plans probably nixed that.

Hadn't heard of the character. Looking at The Other Wiki, sounds interesting (![]()
the above is also a good point), but I think they might have to lose the Batgirlesque costume.

HELLCAT
ONCE UPON A TIME MARVEL TRIED TO APPEAL TO WOMEN READERS AND THEY INTRODUCED THE CAT
It did not last many issues and the character eventually became Tigra
But the suit that gave Greer her powers was taken by Big Evil Corp (maybe Roxxon? Can't remember) and was found by Patsy Walker (a former star of Marvel's romance comics??) while she was hanging around the Avengers during one of their struggles with the Serpent Crown and the Squadron Supreme Verse.
I can't remember why but she wanted to become a superhero and she wanted Beast to make it happen. She happens to find the suit, kicks some ass, and declares herself Hellcat. She has a chance to join the Avengers but Worst Avenger Moondragon convinces her not to.
I lose track of her after this but she married SON OF SATAN and then that stopped being a thing.
She became a supporting cast of She-Hulk or something later on. Sadly, she never did join the Avengers. Thanks, Worst Avenger Moondragon.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, former star of romance comics and then when those stopped being a thing, someone was like, "Let's make her a superhero!" And so Hellcat was born.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Sometimes I love Marvel.
Since this was the same story where Thor fought a WHALE MAN, yeah, I love this stupid part of Avengers history.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's like if Archie v. the Punisher prompted Archie to actually don a costume and join the Avengers as Indecisive Man, and then remained as such for so long that he became recognizable as a C-list superhero.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Archie superficially reminds me of Jimmy Olsen so you just know he'd have seven different power sets at different points.

Next year's big LEGO game is probably going to be a new Star Wars one.
