Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Doom is what would result if Tony Stark and Stephen Strange performed the Fusion Dance.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Whowho, Rhodey is spelled "Rhodey".
Also, having read that Young Allies bullshit, I'm done with everything.
So for something that's fun, and not hateful shit, picture this...

I like the character, but I think AoU is juggling a load of important characters already. Then again, I would be completely okay with her appearing in GotG2 (speaking of pyschic Guardians, I'd love to see Cosmo become an Ascended Extra, but that's beside the point).
Again, this is assuming it's even true, which I of course, am skeptical about (but then again, so is the article).

Have I mentioned that Cosmo has to be voiced by Walter Koenig?
Because he does.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. So when Civil War rolls around, who do you presume will be on which side? Here's a starter character list. Likely not all these guys will be in the film, but it's putting as many as have been introduced in the MCU for thoroughness.
- Iron Man: Confirmed pro-reg, no question there. Question is how much like the comic's absolute enforcer of it he'll be.
- Captain America: Confirmed anti-reg as well, of course.
- Black Widow: Pro-reg in the comic. But film Widow was the one who leaked the whole SHIELD database. Does that hint she'd be anti-reg instead, having seen what too much government control can do?
- Maria Hill: Pro-reg in the comic. Film Hill supported disbanding SHIELD, to the point of leaking SHIELD secreter base and putting Coulson's team on the run. Does this support an anti-reg perspective, by keeping SHIELD's former areas of interest unregulated, or a pro-reg in that she wants to the law to deal with secret teams like Coulson's?
- Hulk: Not part of the conflict in the comics, because he'd end the story too soon. Will they shelve him again this time? Will he take buddy Tony's side? Or does he not trust government enforcement, seeing how Gen. Ross and co. have treated him?
- Thor: Not directly in Civil War, implied to be shelved for Thor: Ragnarok here.
- Hawkeye: Was dead during Civil War; his successor Kate Bishop was anti-reg. Of note is that Winter Soldier would have had a scene where Hawkeye chased Cap under SHIELD orders but deliberately loses to let him escape.
- Nick Fury: Anti-reg in the comic, but this was WWII-vet Fury, who had seen Stalinist Russia and thus could compare it to Registration. MCU Fury is younger and authorized Project Insight, so it's arguable how supportive of registration he'd be.
- War Machine: Pro-reg in the comic. No doubt he'd stay on Tony's side here, especially since he's the USA's Iron Patriot operator.
- The Falcon: Anti-reg in the comic, led the Secret Avengers at one point. MCU Falcon's hinted to become Cap's second-in-command.
- Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch: Quicksilver was anti-reg, Wanda was shelved at the time post-House of M.
- Vision: Also anti-reg.
- Sharon Carter: Pro-reg, but kept contact with Steve and Nick Fury, aiding them on some occasions.
- Bucky/Winter Soldier: Anti-reg in the comic, working in secret for Nick Fury.
- Black Panther: As Boseman put it, "Black Panther is kinda his own guy."
- Howard the Duck: Pro-reg, but just because he needed some money. Probably won't be in the movie...
And I might have missed others. Who knows if some of the supers from Agents of SHIELD like Mockingbird will appear, or the Netflix heroes like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage (all anti-reg)?

Regarding Fury's position on registration, while he did support Project Insight, he also tried to get it put on hold when someone he trusted (as much as he trusts anyone) said "this shit ain't right". I think he'd be chalked up as a big fat "maybe", if he's even in the picture at all instead of off-screen doing the hunt he was about to start at the end of TWS (I forget if he's been mentioned being in CW, off the top of my head).
Who says that Fury will even survive Age of Ultron?
In any case, while it is difficult to say before we know what the registration entails, I have the feeling that most of the current hereos would be either against it or trying to avoid the conflict. The only one I can see going with Tony is Rhodey, Maria Hill, perhaps Bruce (though it wouldn't really fit his character) and perhaps Vision (because he is apparently basically Tony's creation)

And manufactured an external threat to S.H.I.E.L.D. in order to justify spying on his own organization.
Fury hired Batroc to attack the ship at the start of the film so that he could send Cap and Widow in to take down Batroc, giving Widow a secret assignment to steal sensitive data from the ship in the process, which resulted in the flash drive that kickstarted the entire plot. The only reason Cap and Widow were even able to begin their investigation in the first place was because Fury smelled a rat.

616 Doctor Doom is actually really believable as Sorcerer Supreme, DOOM is a master of all intellectual pursuits.
Tony Stark and Bruce Banner gave me a head ache.
Also; isn't Morgan Freemen in the running against Ken Wantanabe for the role of the ancient one?
