Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

You don't think animals are people? ANIMAL RACIST!
Howard the Duck. Rocket Raccoon. Tippy-Toe.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Lockjaw! Lockjaw is the greatest hero of all time! He's a giant, super strong bulldog that can teleport!
I LOVE YOU, LOCKJAW!
My various fanfics.
He's got regular canine-level intellect though. Well, actually- Err, let's not get into that...
I like that he's not a severely inhuman inhuman anymore.
Hahah, what are the writers thinking sometimes?
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Three with the Fantastic Four reboot.
2016 is going to be the big year with 3 X-men movies, 2 MCU movies, and 2 DCCU movies.
Overall though, I think even a dozen superhero movies wouldn't necessarily be oversaturation as long as they are sufficiently different from each other. Marvel at least can do it really well (Guardians of the Galaxy is basically nothing like The Winter Soldier, and that's just between the two movies that came out this year).
Well Deadpool is an action comedy and I imagine by virtue of the subject matter Suicide Squad will probably be more Anti Heroes / Villain Protagonist than the usual superhero movie.
Also yeah all things considered 2015 is getting off pretty light with superhero movies.
But in general people say the genre will burst every year it seems.

Quick! What Emotionless Girl characters does Marvel still have the rights to?
Nice try, but I've actually had the misfortune of watching Snow White and the Huntsmen. She didn't exactly spontaneously morph into an amazing actor.
She was good in Speak, though. You know, that movie where she played an emotionless girl.
