Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'd guess Luke Cage, Iron Fist or Shang-Chi would operate the closest along his vibe.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Indeed. I seriously think it's about time someone asks why anyone would trust a guy whose last name is Doom.
I'm only half-joking. Yes Doug Walker sucks, but I agree with him that it's really strange that nobody once lampshaded Victor's last name in the previous Fantastic Four films.
That being said, should the Fantastic Four movie even center on Doom? He's already had two failed outings, maybe we should take a look at a lesser-known FF baddie before tackling him once more.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."During the Brazilian Dictatorship, one of the highest ranking members of the Dictatorship's upper eschelonds was called General Kruel
, who has been found guilty of (among others) mass torture, mass murder, enslavement and amerindian genocide. He retired peacefully and died of old age.
Sometimes life is a funny thing.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."This line from Guardians of the Galaxy is probably my favorite Doom quote
"'King of Space.' 'Master of the Sun.' You claim such vast dominions. Is it to balance your small souls? Could I not lay claim to the light and the void, if I wished it? Have I not earned such titles? I, who have mastered all arts, all sciences, all secrets? Whose technology and magic cross the stars as easily as they scramble an alpha telepath's mind? Who would dare to say I have not earned the right? Yet I am king of only a simple nation. On a simple planet. A beloved garden tended by iron hands. And the only title I have ever claimed... is Doctor."

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Considering the Doombots, Doom could be the man behind himself even.
Though I wonder if they're gonna say Sokovia borders Latveria and he acquired some Ultron drones for his bots.
I generally favour introducing Doom in a Disney+ series chronicling his rise to power. Then you can just use him in anything else.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."The phrasing of that made me imagine a Mockumentary series (akin to how WandaVision was initially a pastiche of old sitcoms), and I would absolutely be on board.

A Intrepid Reporter documentary crew goes to investigate what is going down in the secretive dictatorship of Latveria. They get kidnapped and delivered to Doom, who decides to give them a personal view of what being DOOM is.
Imagine just a random scene where a doombot mentions Reed Richards and Doom just turns around saying "RICHA—" as his eyes and fists start to glow with energy before there's an obvious cut editing out the aftermath and we see Doom perfectly calm saying "I don't know who that is." as the camera tries to ignore the smoking crater where the Doombot used to be and the documentary narrator comments "As usual, Doom kept a steely calm no matter the situation."
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Ah, I'd wondered what his backstory was before he started trying to kill Donkey Kong.
I was thinking of this personally.

That is the framing device of Books of Doom where a lady interviews Doom in his castle of Latveria and he tells her his backstory.
Then it's revealed he had no intention of letting her leave, and that the Doom she was talking to was a Doombot.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I still like my idea that Richards actually kinda was an asshole to Doom, but realized where he went wrong and changed for the better as a person, while Doom, despite having literally everything he could ever want and being able to do whatever he sets his mind to, still won't let go of his vendetta against him. Whenever he does anything remotely virtuous, it's solely to upstage Richards, and everyone involved thinks it's kinda sad, but he just won't drop it.
I used to have a colleague named Amy Doom. She was pretty cool. Ran her department well.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Yeah, in the context of fiction it's easy to see it as a red flag, but in real life people don't choose their names and sometimes a name can mean something completely different depending on the language or context (apparently "Ivan the Terrible" wasn't actually a Red Baron title, "Terrible" just meant something akin to "Magnificent" at the time).

I'm curious what Marvel project Quentin Tarantino would do if he ever wanted to get involved. I read he wanted to make a Luke Cage adaptation at some point, but it never went anywhere.
