Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It’s so surprisingly influential
Even the big Inhumans push started with a plot point echoing something from Earth X

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's very very weird.
Apparently Wizard magazine asked Alex Ross to create a Bad Future idea for Marvel and his concept art and notes were so popular that Marvel made an actual series out of it.
And it was the weirdest goddamn thing to ever be eternally recycled into everything. There are weirder things in Marvel nothing that I can think of with the reach and influence of Earth X.
Since it was a Bad Future, it was intended to be canon to the 616.
Which lasted until plot points like "Wolverine isn't a mutant, he's actually one of the few pure humans" and "the gods are actually mutants" started getting sprinkled in.
To bring it back around to the MCU: the big plot point from Eternals of Earth having a baby Celestial growing inside it? Pretty sure that was pioneered by Earth X too. Its concepts get everywhere.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersThere were a couple of AoU chats that were shut down in the Falcon and Winter Soldier and Multiverse of Madness threads for being too off topic and it was said they should be moved here.
If anyone's still interested they were the classic 'How much can Tony be blamed for Ultron?' and 'Did Ao U try and overwrite Winter Soldier and bring back SHIELD'?

Underneath the armor the Super-Inhumans are actually not any different from regular Inhumans. The only real difference is that the "Super" Inhumans had even less humanity than the Inhumans. Heck, all that's needed to convert a regular Inhuman into one is some brainwashing.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAccording to Hollywood Reporter Marvel Studios is working on a Wonder Man series.
Destin Daniel Cretton is attached as an executive producer and is working with writer-producer Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community).
Awesome.
I've pondered the idea of having the MCU do a sort of inversion of the comics where Wonder Man is a human identity adopted by White!Vision.
Alternatively, I thought that Klingo of the Eternals could be a Composite Character and start calling himself Wonder Man, since he's a self-absorbed actor with superpowers.
But in any case, I'm interested and I thought Cretton did a great job with Shang Chi.
Edit - In light of the Brooklyn 99 connection I'm imagining Andy Sandberg as Simon Wiliams, and I'm liking it.

Cool interview by Sam Jackson
"Samuel L. Jackson: ‘I’d Rather Be Nick Fury’ Than Win Oscars or Chase Oscar-Baiting Roles"
“I was never going to let the Oscars be a measure of my success or failure as an actor. My yardstick of success is my happiness: Am I satisfied with what I’m doing? I’m not doing statue-chasing movies. You know [whispers]: ‘If you do this movie, you’ll win an Oscar.’ No, thanks. I’d rather be Nick Fury. Or having fun being Mace Windu with a lightsaber in my hand.”
Not surprising from the man who signed up to be in Snakes on a Plane based on the title Snakes on a Plane
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAmusingly, one of the most acclaimed (and "Oscar Bait in any other film") roles of Jackson's is in another superhero film: Unbreakable. It's the sort of performance that should, in a just world, get one an Oscar. It just didn't.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."

It was pointed out to me that he looks like an edgy Black Bolt and I can't unsee it now
Which is probably intentional since the Vox was created to combat the Royal Family and their armies
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
