Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Personally I think making the Winter Soldier not a Soviet supersoldier but an agent of HYDRA, which had its tentacles in both the West and the East was a smart choice, as it underlines the very real fact that fascism is deeply rooted in the United States government and military and we're decades away from the Cold War being relevant.
Granted, Bucky was still sent on missions for the Soviet Union, like during the Korean War, but just not only for them.
A character from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was supposed to show up in Age of Ultron as well, IIRC. One of Coulson's team members, I think.
They keep almost acknowledging the show in the MCU and then somebody nixes it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I guess that's because it puts the writers in the awkward position of "wait, do the Avengers know Coulson's alive or not?", something even Loki actively tried to dance around.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonI mean, they could probably have a cameo of a few of them without having anyone mention Coulson.
Although honestly, after a while, the fact that they were still trying so hard to keep that secret got a bit silly after a while.
One Strip! One Strip! As just another general thought, now that we've dabbled in horror with MOM, it dawned on me that whenever Omega Red enters the picture, he'd be perfect for a sci-fi horror approach to the MCU. One thing that could make this work is to get rid of the "death spores" (always kind of a ridiculous concept) and instead just make him a cannibal whose healing factor requires him to consume human flesh to keep it charged, and the poisoning from the carbonadium cybernetics means that he has to feed far more regularly to stave it off. An insane cannibalistic cyborg serial killer sounds like a great idea for a villain.
They might take the opportunity to make Taskmaster more in line with her comic book counterpart and have her be less serious.
We kinda got a Truer to the Text version of Taskmaster in Hawkeye.

Do you mean Echo?
Although given that Echo has an upcoming show, it makes more sense to use her for a teamup series over a forgettable character that wasn't received very well.
regulation pigeonThat has next to nothing to do with Taskmaster aside from being a mercenary.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."You need the whole package, the skull mask, the personality and the Ditto Fighter abilities.
Wake me up at your own risk.It shouldn’t be that hard to course-correct. Dreykov mentioned she had a chip in her head; you could easily say that helps record fighting styles at the cost of slowly degrading any memories unrelated to combat or her immediate surroundings—which would also help explain her lack of animosity with Nat, if the “I hate the guy controlling me more than the lady who burned me” reasoning doesn’t work for you.
It’s not that big a leap to consider she became a mercenary, seeing how that was what the other Widows did
and the fact that killing is literally all she would remember under these circumstances. Enough years of freedom without the Red Room’s brainwashing reminding her of her traumatic origins, and she could easily transition into a greedy mercenary who lives for nothing more than the thrill of the fight.
I'd personally just make her character into the MCU'S Finesse
and introduce that there had been a comic-like Taskmaster in the Red Room's earlier years but he left when he worked out what was being done to these girls, necessitating a replacement.
Sorry this took a while, but it's weird hearing a more high-pitched Thanos after so many years of deep-voiced versions from adaptations.
Yeah, I think Taskmaster is going to become a mercenary because she has to make a living somehow and, like all the other Widows, she doesn't have a skillset that allows her to make a more traditional living, plus her disfigurements and the level of control she was under will make it even harder for her to adjust to living in normal society.
