Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Tony Stark sounded off to me, but that's because of pattern recognition. More than any other actor/character combo in the MCU, RDJ defined Tony's voice. What that means is that while a lot of other characters will have actors give it their own take, everyone who voices Tony in other media is audibly trying their best to sound like RDJ.
I've heard a lot of attempts to imitate RDJ over the years, and have gotten kind of irritated at Faux RDJ voices. So I picked up on What If's instantly.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
X2: Yeah, What If...? used Mick Wingert as their RDJ substitute. He's done the exact performance on the late 2010s Marvel animated shows like Marvel's Spider-Man.
I'm surprised it wasn't Eric Loomis, who seemed like he was going to be the defacto soundalike starting with the Iron Man 2 video game and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
Deadline
One of us! One of us!
In all seriousness, that alone has won back ten times the nerd points originally lost from the realization that we’re likely not getting a bird clone of Thomas Edison as the villain. Iman has immediately made herself my favorite newcomer for phase 4.

She speaks truthfully and righteously. She is the hope of the MCU.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."No comment but to note that insane sentences like this are why I love comic books.
Hopefully we do get The Inventor at some point. He's too wonderfully bonkers an idea for me to ever let go.
Why, The Inventor of course!
◊ He a cyborg bird-man scientist thing who claims to be a clone of Thomas Edison and is motivated by a hatred of young people. He was Kamala's first major bad guy.

She might pilfer Captain Marvel's rogues. Rogues' Gallery Transplant is a classic MCU maneuver (as it is also a classic maneuver of the comics).
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'd be shocked if Becky St. Jude doesn't show up eventually, even if not necessarily in the first season. She's a pitch perfect Evil Counterpart, and is a character who would play fairly well in the current environment.
I hope that, at the very least, the Inventor is used as a Greater-Scope Villain.
Imagine if during the course of the show the main villain drops the odd references to an associate/superior that we never see. Until the final post credit scene when a minor lacky is reporting on the ultimate failure of the villain's plot due to Ms. Marvel's actions to someone shrouded in shadows.
Then when they finish the explanation the figure steps out of the shadows to reveal that it is the Inventor, in all of his human-bird-man glory and says something ominous. No context or explanation is given for why the heck the Inventor is a bird man, the scene is treated just like a standard cliché greater scope villain introduction.
We know they're using Kamran, although I'm not sure what his powers will be if he's not an inhuman.
Josh/Discord is the next most likely, he goes to school with the main characters and is Zoe's ex, it'd be weird if he didn't show up.
Becky's the one I want to see the most, although it'd be funny to see them adapt Canadian naruto onto the television.
Huh I just now realized Kamala hasn't had a big ongoing since the tepid reactions to the Saladin Ahmed run which did a whole thing of Kamala getting a symbiote suit arc (the suit was a Kree invention, it wasn't a Klyntar).
Since then its been mini-series with the last one being Beyond the Limit and the upcoming one being a series of team-up one-shots featuring Kamala teaming up with a new hero including the X-Men, Moon Knight, and Venom.
Wonder when she'll get a new ongoing.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Found this neat theory
that ties America Chavez to He Who Remains.
If she does end up being the ultimate monkey wrench in his grand plan, that would be a very interesting way of connecting Loki's multiversal shenanigans with Doctor Strange's.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."Well, The Avengers Prelude: Fury's Big Week actually establishes that the burd died, but maybe they could retcon that. If they can then I want it to happen.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonJeez, does everybody have to get a "they get a symbiote suit" story over at Marvel?
Someone heard that Kamala was the modern day Spider Man and went hard
An alien costume! Secret identity woes! Parental figure in hospital! I think there was a love triangle!
Forever liveblogging the Avengers

The only character for me who sounded off in What If was Hawkeye... which is odd because that was Jeremy Renner.
