Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

She'll probably approach a few people we haven't seen yet as well. Daken or Creed instantly come to mind, though Daken is far more likely. Ares also sounds like a reasonable bet if he survives Gorr's pogrom. Whiplash is also a possibility, since he's not explicitly dead.

I highly, highly doubt a Greek god would allow themselves to be hired by a lowly mortal. They're literally light-years away from each other, and someone like Ares being on her team would tonally clash with the rest of the Dark Avengers if they're supposed to be a more covert group of characters focused on espionage.
Whiplash would be a neat idea, but considering how much Mickey Rourke hates Marvel now, I wouldn't count on it.
Who are Daken and Creed? I haven't heard of those guys. Unless we're talking about Sabretooth...

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I like the idea of Ghost showing up with the Thunderbolts / Masters of Evil as The Mole, spending most of the film looking as though she’s on the Big Bad’s side (maybe the excuse is the Big Bad claims to be able to cure her) only to - psych! - have been helping the good guys all along.
Generally, if they do the Thunderbolts’ plot (that is, a bunch of villains in false identities pretend to be a new hero team as part of an Evil Plan, only for half of them to decide they like being heroes and rebel) imo the team composition should be something like this:
- 1: The main character, a criminal who is at first on board with the plan but changes over the story and becomes a hero. This should be Songbird, no question.
- 2: The Big Bad.
- 3: A complete asshole who is obviously on board with the plan from day one and never wavers. The Dragon or The Heavy.
- 4: A character, perhaps a faux love interest or some other inherently sympathetic role, who the main character becomes close to. When the main character switches sides they believe this character will join them, but instead - surprise subversion! - they commit to the plan and turn on them.
- 5: A more experienced character than the main who is inspires them to be better: with the plan, but a Token Good Teammate who is only on because they have no choice (or is a mole: this is the role I’d see Ghost in).
That leaves the roles 2 vs 3 for heroes and villains at the end of the story, so the ones who switch sides remain underdogs. If em they wanted it an even 3 vs 3, they could add this:
- 6: A character who is the opposite of role 4: committed to the plan at first and set in their ways, but the main character convinces them to change.
Most, but not all, of the characters should be existing villains. At least a couple, 1 of course and maybe 4, should be newbies with fresh perspective.
Funnily enough, it occurs to me that if they weren’t sure they wanted Zemo to do the Big Bad thing in Thunderbolts (since F&WS establishes that he’d rather just kill off supervillains), it would be a great idea for MCU Mysterio.

I do hope next time we see Ghost she picks up more of her comic self's quirks and becomes a gross freaky little weirdo.
Be really funny and nauseating to get the Ghost that vomits in their helmet and doesn’t clean it out.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I see the Thunderbolts and Dark Avengers being totally separate and also functioning very different. I strongly suspect that the end of Season 2 of The Punisher was hinting at the Thunderbolts; Madani called Frank to try and recruit him for assassination jobs and he declined, so the most logical step from there would be to go to imprisoned supervillains and offer them amnesty in exchange for doing wetworks jobs. The Dark Avengers seem to be what Valentina is setting up; a team of villains, disgraced heroes, and vulnerable people who will look like an official Avengers group, but act to undermine them and further HYDRA's goals.

Yeah, I’d agree on the first part.
I’m not convinced the Valentina thing is leading up to the Dark Avengers, but even if I’m wrong about that I don’t want the Thunderbolts and Dark Avengers to be the same thing, since they’re two very different ideas that come with their own distinct, equally worthwhile plots.

This scene is hilarious
Imagine you just go to a random planet and captured a subject for study, only for said subject to actually be one of the most powerful beings on the planet..... and then another one shows up
What's even more funny is that Korg did not encounter a single natural human, he left assuming Earth is populated with guys like Thor and Bill.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."A video essay about Dr Strange's arc in his first movie, focused primarily on the "It's not about you" scene with the Ancient One.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNo, the rights issues didn't affect animation. Fox only held the live-action film rights. Notably, Wolverine was a major character for at least one of those movies.
In fact, Hulk himself was tied up in similar rights issues to the Fantastic Four. Universal owned the distribution rights to the character's live-action exploits and sued following Incredible Hulk.
That's why Hulk became a permanent guest-star. Marvel could use the character all they wanted, but if they made Hulk movies, they'd have to cede distribution and a cut of the film's take to Universal.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I like Thor Ragnarok but it will always remain a huge shame that the Planet Hulk storyline got cut up and repurposed into a Thor story with Hulk demoted to a secondary character.
With all the other stuff like the Wordlbreaker/Sakaarson prophecy, and the Sakaar cast like Caiera, the rest of the Warbound, and the Red King got cut.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Planet Hulk would function as a prequel to Thor: Ragnarok, depicting how Bruce Banner arrived on Sakaar and how the Hulk became the star of the gladiatorial games.

I could see her being like Black Widow and wanting to do good to counteract the bad
Which mostly means doing the same stuff but under a different org
