Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Thor also has a huge crush on the concept of the Valkyries and she was the last one
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI would like the gossip on why they broke up.
For all of Thor and Dark World we don't actually see much of their relationship. I've heard speculation before that given Jane pined so long for Thor despite their short time together in the first film, she's more invested in the idea of him rather than the man himself.
Heh, becoming Thor her self is probably a healthier way of engaging with those feelings than dating him.
It should be noted that Zeus defeated Typhon by slamming a mountain on him.
In one description of the final battle after Zeus got his sinews back, it became a back and forth Tennis Boss. Typhon threw mountains at Zeus which Zeus deflected right back at him with his thunderbolts. The weakened and bloody Typhon tried to flee but that's when Zeus threw Mount Aetna on him.
Zeus is terrible, but there's a reason he's the King of the Gods.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThors always had to deal with his masculinity not holding up in reality. The fact Jane broke up with him being a key sticking point for him.
Much like him trying to relish a gruesome death for Thanos doomed half the universe cause he wouldn’t go for the head. Then he learned too late.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Yeah he was forced to change, and that makes those moments precious to him cause it was a time he was learning to be better.
That Thor is still learning is just how things are, cause you can regress as despair Thor who became a NEET gamer in new Asgard can attest. And there are varying levels to how toxic ones masculinity can be.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Thor and Jane dated for at least a year spanning The Dark World and Age of Ultron, and presumably at least some time after that given that the comment he received in Ragnarok seemed to be at least slightly topical.
And he hasn't actually had any stable romantic relationships outside of that one by the looks of it.
What are your thoughts on the idea of Marvel Studios having a separate sub-brand for films directed by auteur directors with full creative control? Imagine Ant-Man directed by Edgar Wright.
You're describing this series of parody trailers by Patrick H. Willems. https://youtu.be/fhuvfJPx0Mk
It'd be sort of the logical conclusion of the MCU replicating serialized comic book storytelling: have a Vertigo (or in this case, perhaps Marvel Knights) equivalent brand.
The idea isn't bad but it doesn't suit in the corporate branding. In general they just need to let directors off the chain in their mainline movies, or use streaming as a venue to let that freedom fly (which they did do so far with Wandavision and Moon Knight, the most experimental of the bunch of Disneyplus shows).
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Marvel actually did try a separate "Marvel Knights" film branding near the end of the 2000s; but only Punisher: War Zone and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance were released under it.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonBest they could do is have the Marvel Knights characters (Matt, Jess, Luke, Danny, Frank, Elektra, Misty, and Colleen) be allowed to be as gritty as they were on Netflix and stick to themselves aside from the occasional cameo. Thunderbolts would probably also fall under that mantle, considering the most obvious candidates (Bullseye, Hellcat, Diamondback, and Davos) are all Netflix characters.

Speaking of which, I'm interested in seeing the Masters of Evil being introduced into the MCU. The hypothetical MCU Masters of Evil would be led by Baron Zemo and it's roster would be composed of the Leader (Samuel Sterns), Ghost (Ava Starr), the Scorpion (Mac Gargan), Arnim Zola, Mordo, the Enchantress and newcomers the Beetle and Moonstone.
Man, I’ll always think of the Masters of evil being lead by Doom.
An MCU version of Ultimate Alliance would be awesome but it’s unfeasible sadly.
But it would certainly get butts in the theater to have Tom Holland, Hugh Jackman, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans in one team.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Zemo here would absolutely not lead the Masters of Evil, and I feel like Doom here would be too arrogant and too much of a control freak to lead a team. Maybe Nefaria, or Power Broker if she and Nefaria become a composite with her gaining a massive power boost? That or a Kang variant (Mister Gryphon, probably) effectively taking Norman Osborn's place. Gargan (if Sony allows him to be used) and Ghost would be more likely to be on the Dark Avengers.

I don't think they've ever addressed what happened to Ghost, but I don't think she'll be a villain if she shows up again. Granted, they were gathering quantum whatevers to help cure Ghost when everyone got dusted, but it's more likely that she'd be dead and not evil again.

regulation pigeonIn the film proper Janet has a moment where she stabilizes Ghost's particles. It depends how well Janet stabilized her to delay the unmaking of her particles.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Ghost would still be vulnerable to being sucked into a team like that because she really doesn't have much of a support system (the Pyms don't count because they treat everyone near them like shit) and also really doesn't have much of a purpose otherwise, and I could see her being manipulated into something like that.

And Jane is his ex who broke up with him for vague reasons.
Let’s be real here, neither are his friends. Korg is more of a friend than those 2, at least he’s never enslaved or broke Thor’s heart.
