Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Quicksilver in the comics does share one other trait with The Flash. Super-Speed is his default setting, while trying to live life at the same pace as everyone else feels intolerably slow to him.
That's one of the reasons he's such a jerk most of the time — to him, everyone else is a person holding up a checkout line.

Disgusted, but not surprisedImagine how bad it must be when he's actually behind people holding up a checkout line.
Though come to think of he probably doesn't buy groceries like a normal person would, I just like the mental image.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrEh, he can just use self-checkout.
Would the machine be able to keep up with him?
It’s funny that the Flash sees the world even slower but is much more of a friendly funny guy
Maybe Quicksilver needs an attitude adjustment perhaps in a book titled Quicksilver No Surrender
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don't think Quicksilver ever pays for stuff.

Bite my shiny metal ass.Except for all his bad decisions
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell, that goes without saying. Maybe if he wasn't such a jerk.
Bite my shiny metal ass.It is properly a bit odd to say this, maybe even controversial to some, but the fact that Marvel could only use Hulk and Spider-man with other characters actually worked very well for them in the long run. I admit it worked much more quickly with Spider-man, as it was only Thor: Rangnork onwards that it helped Hulk. 1) It allowed for more chemistry with equals, rather than with a supporting cast and love interest. 2) Adds a feel that the world is bigger than what the heroes and villains are doing. A sense of an actual shared universe, rather than the hero's own story, team up and then dismantle, come together, rinse and repeat. 3) In the case of spider-man make him an audience surrogate into different parts of the MCU e.g Homecoming-Rookie hero, Far from Home-Spy conspiracy, No way Home-Magic gone wrong. 4) Also leads to some amazing events and team-ups-Thor+Hulk vs Undead Norse monsters and the Sinister Five vs the Spider-men.
Sincerely S Awatching.Wait how fast is Makkari by comparison?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Movie-wise she seems to move somewhere along the speed of sound (so somewhere along 1.235 kmh-767 mph) given how fast she seems to race through the place, generate sonic shockwaves as weaponry and the fact she's deaf (presumably to avoid damaging her own ears with her own shockwaves).
In the movie they seem to add a slight Logical Weakness workaround that it seems like Makkari has some difficulty changing directions due the momentum her speed gains. She usually has to screech to a halt to change directions.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Thats why you need Speed Force. To Hand Wave away all of those pesky physics.
Makkari is actually a fun example of using physics to aid the superheroic shenanigans in some ways. As I mentioned she generates shockwaves when she comes to a dead-stop (due the air and sound burst) and she uses that as an offensive weapon against Ikkaris and I thought that was a fantastic aesthetic decision.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Watching Ant-Man 2 again, and once more enjoying how Scott is written in this film.
It’s also fun how the Pyms are consistently more or less Nominal Heroes, in both films. They not malicious, but don’t really care about other people that much, and tend to leave a lot of mayhem behind.
It’s funny how the films have mostly not bothered to use much of Ant-Man’s rogues gallery, preferring to composite other villains into their stories. With the way they handled Strange 2, the plans for Ant-Man 3 and the rumors about how they intend to handle Black Panther 2, it seems like this was the start of an overall trend.
Still, it’s a little odd to be three movies in and to have no sign of Whirlwind yet. Maybe he’ll get a cameo fighting Hope, or in a flashback fighting Janet, in the third film. Or, since I’m sure Cassie fighting villains outside Scott’s wishes is going to be a plot point, maybe he’ll make a minor appearance as someone she fights.
Is that rumored Jimmy Woo & Darcy series still happening?

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. Its kinda amusing how little Hank and Hope care that they are risking Scott going back to jail over this.
Like Janet aside the rest of things they largely care about only has to do with how they feel, Hank is pissed that Scott used the suit in Avengers stuff without his permission and lost it while Hope is upset because Scott didn't think to call her when he did Avengers stuff.
Shows that the 2 are pretty selfish people.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."> Its kinda amusing how little Hank and Hope care that they are risking Scott going back to jail over this.
Then Scot has to face his arch nemesis,The Judicial system!
New theme music also a boxI know Ant-Man and the Wasp isn't exactly the most amazing film in the world or anything, but I can't help but really like it. It made the Wasp such a fun character for me, really leaned into its San Francisco setting (helps that I'm living there!), and it's generally just low stakes fun where everyone's just trying to be the best person they can.
It is kinda neat how Hank and Hope are very self-centered like everyone said. There's definitely a reason why he wasn't exactly liked during his S.H.I.E.L.D days, huh. I still wonder if Hank and Arnim clashed while they worked together in Jersey.
I do have to wonder what Hank and Janet will think about Scott working with the Avengers again, inventing time travel, and using the Ant-Man suit to fight aliens. I'm half-expecting Hank to complain about it, and half-expecting him to be envious. Meanwhile, Janet would probably love it all the way.

Trust no one.You also gotta wonder how they'll feel about Cassie eventually becoming Stature.
I wonder what Hank thinks about how he owes his family's undusting to Scott coming up with the idea of time travel.
The cold never bothered me anywayWell he ungrumped enough to go to Tony’s funeral and didn’t even cause a scene
Forever liveblogging the Avengers[guy tapping head meme] we didn't see him cause a scene.
Hank: "Hey, Stark, here are some high-quality, super accurate missiles for you! Just as you like them!"
Hope: "Oh, god, Dad, no, don't piss in the coffin!"

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Poor Janet must've been really be struggling to rein him...
Trust no one.
The Speed Force effectively allows you to warp your own local reality.
