Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Jen has worked out a lot and made massive strength gains in the comics, so I could see her doing the same in the MCU and becoming suitably swole.
Disney+ show CGI has been close to movie quality so far. She-Hulk looks bad enough that I'm 100% sure it's not finished.
That's a pretty long ways away. Filming is done, so the primary thing they're working on is touching up the CGI.
regulation pigeonLast minute post-production changes/tweaks aren't unheard of either, especially in Marvel's case at this point.
That upcoming Chip n Dale film, another Disney+ project, recently released
some TV spots with improved effects and character models within a similar three month span of first reveal and release. Its director Akiva Schaffer cited that the film was still in post-production when that first reveal was made.
A lot of anti-Marvel people online like to cite how the over-reliance on VFX supervisors is intentional, since they don't exactly have unions, making it easier and cheaper to saddle them with extra work. The fact that many installments rely on a lot of green screen to avoid building sets definitely doesn't help.
I do fear that there may be a secret VFX crunch issue that has yet to come out. If there is, I hope those guys can get much better pay and work hours, because they really deserve it.
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."I just saw Multiverse of Madness, finally.
I thought it was only okay. Weird as it is to say given the first film's divisive reputation, I think the first film was better.
Mega spoilers: I did not buy Wanda as the villain at all. I get that she's corrupted by the Darkhold, but it just didn't feel convincing enough ("btw I'm evil now"), and her plot (and resolution to said plot) was boring. I liked the evil Strange, and the Illuminati AKA Council of Cameos, but both of those were already kinda spoiled to varying degrees by the trailers and didn't have much else to offer after that. Was hoping for a little more action in the third act, but most of the cool stuff was really front-loaded.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
The biggest issue with Wanda as the villain is how they went about it. Like, I'd buy it more if they actually showed us her getting corrupted by the Darkhold, and moreover explained how the Darkhold does this (does it brainwash people? Does it turn off their moral compass? Is it a devil on their shoulder?); rather than have it all happen entirely offscreen.
Of course, I also think Wanda originally was going to have a much different part in the movie. Like, she was still going to be in the movie when Scott Derrickson was still signed on as director and C. Robert Cargill was the writer. She was revealed at the same time as the movie at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, with Elizabeth Olsen coming on stage alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Scott Derrickson. I think in Derrickson's version of the movie, Nightmare was going to be the villain and they were going to do more with that post-credits scene of Mordo starting his crusade to rid the world of sorcerers, with Wanda having a "Natasha in Captain America: The Winter Soldier"-sized role. Wanda being the villain was a change that happened when Derrickson and Cargill dropped out and Sam Raimi and Michael Waldron came in to take their place. I mean, Olsen herself didn't even know what her role was in this movie until she was nearly done with shooting WandaVision (and she was surprised that she was going be the main villain); before that she only knew she'd be in it in some capacity.

Okey Dokey! In the comics at least, just reading it is enough to make you eventually lose your soul, leaving you vulnerable to possession by Chthon, the evil Elder God who wrote the damn thing.
So the way the corruption works is that you are gradually becoming less you and more Chthon.

Disgusted, but not surprisedY'know, it's a shame Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't still going. All of this multiverse stuff could be used to simply establish them as another universe to get around their later seasons' canon problem.
Multiverse of Madness handed them a great opportunity for a magic-centric plot that forces them to turn to the Darkhold out of desperation at the eleventh hour, only to watch in confusion and horror as the Darkhold inexplicably burns itself out of existence. That could have been a fantastic tension-ramping cliffhanger.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.According to recent news, it looks like Secret Invasion will at least partially take place during the five-year time period during the Snap.
I have no idea how they're gonna pull that off, especially with Fury as the main character, but this definitely seems like an interesting idea. I guess this indirectly confirms that Everett Ross wasn't dusted?
"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."
So between that, the rumored Punisher film in the making (most likely with Bernthal, considering how popular his take on Frank was), and Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter teasing something, this is what I'm hoping for from the Marvel Knights side of things:
- New Daredevil season, focuses on Matt trying to stop Fisk's latest attempt to restore his glory while also contending with Leland Owlsley's son trying to take down Fisk at any cost to avenge his father.
- Luke and Danny become the Heroes for Hire, likely with Tilda as the antagonist. I'd be fine with Finn Jones returning if they could keep the same level of quality as "The Main Ingredient".
- Misty and Colleen become the Daughters of the Dragon.
- Jess gets a new season and returns to working as a private eye and trying to finally get her life together, with the Jester serving as the antagonist (as a psychopathic 4channer who loves to ruin people's lives just because he can).
- Elektra gets a solo series.
- Frank has his movie and also shows up here and there as an intermittent ally.
- Maya Lopez gets enfolded into this general sector, since she usually is an ally of Matt's.
- Eventual Defenders crossover with everyone here working to stop the Hood.
