Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Part of the reason is that as The Girl of the team, you could do more with Wanda by having a romance subplot between her and Vision
Even before that she got plot beats about crushing on Cap or Hawkeye crushing on her or the villain of the week kidnapping her because they decided she was too hot not to marry… Its hard being the Girl on a team.
I’m not sure if Quicksilver falling in love with Crystal was the inspiration for him being removed from the Avengers or not but moving into the Inhumans cast herd meant he was pretty out of the spotlight
I half suspect that Quicksilver and Crystal got together so she wouldn’t be a romantic loose end for Johnny Storm.
But whatever the reason it meant Pietro was off the Avengers while Wanda fell in love and grew out of her brothers shadow and grew into more powerful powers and became an essential core member of the Avengers. Her ties to Vision meant she was part of all the Pym, Ultron, and Wonder Man drama
And she and Vision didn’t just get married. They got double married with Swordtree and Mantis at the end of a long, dramatic storyline involving Kang and Immortus and space dragons and secret backstory reveals and Wanda bullying Dormammu. All of which Pietro wasn’t around for.
Running into a wall and getting rescued by Crystal was the worst thing that happened to Pietro’s prominence

Forever liveblogging the Avengers(DSMOM SPOILERS) Earth-838 oneshot where Pietro (alive because Ultron good in this one) complains to his wife Crystal (who exists because Black Bolt does) that he's The Un-Favourite when?
The best thing that came out of Pietro being dog-napped to the moon was Wanda coming away from the wedding with Agatha Harkness in tow. Yknow, after Franklin Richards woke up, blew up the big Ultron-7 and stopped being powered for a while.
I'm still reading yer blog, Bocaj. Its been a fascinating journey.

According to Forbes
, Disney+ UK accidentally revealed She-Hulk's release date (August 17, 2022) and series description:
Billy and Teddy were in Sunspot’s New Avengers. Kate and America were in the West Coast Avengers
The rest are mostly out of Avengers focus
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe new Guardians of the Galaxy ride “Cosmic Rewind” opened at Disneyworld EPCOT this week. It’s getting great reviews, with many calling it one of the parks’ best thrill rides yet. Pretty funny considering it’s replacing a ride infamous for a slow pace and lots of mechanical breakdowns.
Also the villain of the ride is a Celestial who attempts to rewind Earth’s existence so I guess there’s the stealth Eternals sequel (though it’s Eson, not Arishem.)
No, it wasn't. That's a manipulative statistic being used to drum up a story by bored reporters. You're being lied to for the sake of selling clicks. It must be a slow weekend in Hollywood news.
The 87% number comes from comparing Fridays, rather than weekends. Opening Friday is always the biggest sales day of a movie's theater life. But Friday is a weekday. After opening weekend, Saturday becomes the big day for movies while Sunday and Friday typically outperform Monday through Thursday, but still fall far short of Saturday.
So. If one wanted to invent a story about how one of the biggest movies of the year was failing at the box office, you could compare just opening Friday to just second Friday. It's technically a fair comparison. It's just super deceptive and manipulative to do so.
Oh no! Avengers: Endgame fell 74% from weekend-to-weekend Friday to Friday! And Spider-Man: No Way Home dropped by 84%! Woof! These films are stinkers. What could have caused the audience to so thoroughly reject them!? Must be real bad to bomb like this at the box office!
For clarity's sake, Multiverse of Madness's real weekend-to-weekend drop was 67.45%. A number nearly identical to No Way Home's 67.50%. The movie's doing fine. There is no story here. Please save your panicking clicks.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Box Office Mojo has been shit ever since IMDB took over and screwed it all up, but it still provides some basic functions.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I mean, they both sucked at their job. Tony sucked because this was immediately following Civil War so he was in his Nazi phase. Meanwhile, Steve sucked because he has zero patience for long-term planning or spy shit, and basically threw himself out the window straight onto the front lines at every possible opportunity.
Neither of these guys is really qualified to lead a morally ambiguous intelligence agency with seemingly limitless resources and zero accountability.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Steve also blew a lot of time and resources trying to track down Tony and the Newlluminati because he was determined to die holding onto the grudge of them mind wiping him
Which, fair enough, but he kinda screwed over the world by making it his top priority and so making it the top priority of all the heroes he enlisted onto team Steve Oh My God We’re Doing This Again
This was, of course, before it was retconned so those eight months didn’t happen

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIIRC, Wasn't that part of the Incursions plotline that led into Secret War?
Man, that shit was weird. Pretty much the nadir of multiversal storytelling. The ultimate example of how completely disposable writers treat AU worlds and characters.
For those who don't know, for like 1-2 years, someone decided it'd be a great idea to make all of our heroes into Hard Men Make Hard Choices. The multiverse was collapsing due to Mysterious Circumstances, causing every universe to collide with each other. The only way to protect the 616 when an Incursion began was for the Hard Men in question to enter the other universe and annihilate its planet Earth with a cosmic super-nuke.
Just Earth. For some reason, that stabilizes it and saves the rest of both universes. So it was a war of Earths until only two Earths remained, then everyone fucked up and the last two Earths crashed into each other, obliterating the entire Multiverse. Including, I suppose, those universes who had their Earths blown up?
Yeah, Marvel had a problem for a while about disappearing up its own asshole to push some of the wildest cosmic lore they could come up with, with little regard for actual storytelling. I don't know if they ever got better about that. I dropped the comics shortly after Secret War.
I honestly feel bad for anyone who picked up an Avengers comic looking for fun superhero adventures and turned the page to Dr. Strange summoning Cthulhu to murder the Justice League so that the heroes' genocide of the DC Earth could go off successfully.
My eye twitched a few times when Multiverse of Madness started talking about Incursions. I really hope Kevin Feige knows better.

Apparently, people have been much more receptive to his X-Men stuff.

There's something hilarious how Pietro is just perpetually second fiddle to his sister who for whatever reason is always more popular or relevant than him.
Even happened here. Sure Pietro got a good leg up over in Days of Future Past but he quickly declined in relevance there while here Wanda ascended into prominence becoming one of the current stars of the franchise.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
