Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

In terms of major multiverse characters, one guy I hope is the Maker
Evil alternate Reed Richards willing to go to any lengths to "save the world"
The Maker: “How are you doing, my inferior alternate self?”
Reed:
The Maker: “Because I am a potato”
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIf the Maker appears in the MCU, he should be played by Randall Park, and have nobody acknowledge him looking any different from normal Reed.
Also not acknowledge that he looks like Jimmy, I guess. Legit forgot about him for a sec.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonSaid Ben Grimm also ended up with Sue after she rejected Reed, which was a big part of what made him turn.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonTBF, that didn't happen until after Reed went evil. There were signs of attraction after Sue broke up with Reed and before the whole Maker thing, but both Sue and Ben were hesitant to act on them due to the awkwardness.
After the Maker thing, they got over it.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThere is something darkly funny that Ultimate Sue and Ben are probably dead now while Maker is living the high life traveling the multiverse and continue his science shenanigans
Which isn’t a bad thing, there is a reason why Maker is the only survivor of the Ultimate Universe along with Miles.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."On that topic, the Council of Reeds would actually be neat to see as far as multiversal developments go.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."The funny thing is that in the comics Doom actually is smarter than Reed Richards in one field: magic. Doom is a powerful magic user while Reed Richards only knows enough about magic to realize he will never really be able to understand it.
But that's not enough for Doom. Especially since his mastery of magic still doesn't let him gain decisive wins over Reed.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIn an Empire
interview, Kevin Feige talks about Ms. Marvel's Adaptational Superpower Change.
Most notably, as fans may have spotted in the trailers, Khan’s power-set looks to be a little different here – rather than stretching and morphing her body (“Embiggen!”), Kamala seems to have purple cosmic powers in the show. And while on page she was an Inhuman, her powers activated by the Terrigen Mist, there’s a different plan afoot here. “We adapt the comics; it’s not an exact translation,” Kevin Feige tells Empire. “[Kamala] came about in a very specific time within the comic-book continuity. She is now coming into a very specific time within the MCU continuity. And those two things didn’t match.” The new origins for Khan’s powers looks set to be part of the journey of the show. “What we will learn about where those powers come from, and how they come about, is specific to the MCU,” Feige teases. “You will see great comic splash panels in some of our action sequences. If you want big, giant hands and arms, well they’re here in spirit, if not in stretchy, plastic-type ways.”
And that exploration of Kamala’s powers looks set to continue through her upcoming adventures too. (The Marvels) “It taps into the future of her story as it connects to her other friends that she will meet in the upcoming film The Marvels,” confirms Feige. “She’s interested in knowing, ‘Great, does that mean I’m an Asgardian? Did I get hit with gamma rays?’ No, it’s seemingly none of those things. It goes to her own past and her heritage and lineage.”
