Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Namor is rumored to appear and I could easily see him being the villain just by being the colossal douche he usually is.
Reverend Achebe would be the educated guess based on comics history, but that's a shot in the dark.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Achebe is basically the biggest Black Panther villain that wasn’t already in BP 2, but that’s still just an educated guess as stated.
They could also specifically try to adapt a particular story arc and bring in a particular one shot villain, like Iron Man did with the Extremis arc or Captain America did with Winter Soldier, in which case the sky’s the limit cause there’s tons of those.
Another BP thought that interests me is how Hunter/White Wolf's traits got decompsited with Killmonger & W'kabi.
Killmonger inherits Hunters familial relationship with T'Challa though he's the latter's cousin instead of adoptive brother, wearing an evil counterpart suit to the hero, and battle style as a more spec ops fighter as comics Killmonger is a bit more of mystical threat.
While W'kabi inherits Hunter's trait of being a Wakandan superpatriot.
Interesting to think they think that they fused 2 of T'Challa's most prominent antagonists together.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Ah, as I had suspected, the reason for Saudi Arabia blocking Dr. Strange 2 was the reference to America Chavez having two mothers, nothing on whether she herself is overtly queer or not
.

Unfortunately, her actress Xochitl Gomez is being bombarded with hateful comments
on Instagram, in light of the news. Conversely, Gomez had responded to the positive support that has spawned.
I'll note as well that America has a prominent LGBT pin on her jacket
, an element that I'm pretty sure came from one of her runs though I can't seem to find the original source atm. Not a lot, certainly not enough for LGBT fans, but it is still a persistent part of her design.
If they make it into the movie, that is.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. It's a lot more muted and harder to see than the one in The Mitchells vs. the Machines, which was quite obviously a gay pride pin, on top of the main character's interactions with her girlfriend not being explicit about their relationship by name or having them kiss, but very obvious in context.
Also it possibly confirms what I suspected for a while: America is being pursued for her ability to cross the Multiverse at will. So Mac is literally the MacGuffin.
There was, but I don’t think that’s incompatible with it. Nobody says that Superman isn’t American because he’s an alien born on Krypton (well, aside from Luthor I guess), because he grew in Kansas and became part of its culture. If Marvel were to just focus more on Mac Chavez’s adoptive family in Earth-616 and have her embody one specific Latine culture like Nuyorican rather than trying to make her represent dozens of nationalities all at once, her cosmic background would fit just fine. The recent retcon in the comics overcorrected by making her just an enhanced human and the Utopian Plane not real, which made her backstory far less compelling and creative.
