Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has dropped.
I did like the trailer.
Don't really know what the movie is about, but I get the sense that's half the point of the movie.
I do like that it looks like they are going to be touching on Valkyrie handling the diplomatic side of New Asgarde being an actual political entity on Earth. Always wondered how they have it set up (are they an autonomous region of Norway, a recognized microstate like the Vatican, something else entirely?)
Not as much Jane Foster as I was expecting, but we did get some.
Only a teaser to establish tone (very much classic Waititi) and approach (again, the comedy-with-serious-bits like Ragnarok) with the actual plot being revealed in the "proper" trailer I guess.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."That's a pretty interesting teaser, more character-focused than normal. I also think it must be the first official teaser trailer that is more of a teaser, just showing the main characters and the main premise, than a first trailer.

oh hey how are you doing?Until the film inevitably says otherwise, I choose to believe that Old Cap showed up on a park bench outside wherever Jane's working and handed her the Mjolnir he was supposed to return to the past. It's funnier if you imagine she's not working anywhere that a park bench might normally be found, and he literally dragged the bench over there.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I liked Star-Lord's advice to Thor about looking to family, even if it is an issue due to Thor quite literally having no family left outside of Lady Sif, who still hasn't returned yet.
I think the actress is still doing something else.
I still like that Thor dunks on him, but it's a nice moment from Quill. He's gonna need a lot of those.
One Strip! One Strip!Nice seeing that Nebula has stuck with the guardians, and that Kraglin now goes on field operations with them with his new fin.
I'm also glad that we're going to get at least some scenes with plus sized Thor, I had originally hoped he'd stay big for the whole film to be truer to mythology, and for some visual diversity.
Jane Foster's arms look yum.
Thing I'm most looking forward to is the world building of New Asgard.
Not surprised. We saw pics of Natalie Portman sporting some new guns months back.
One Strip! One Strip!

Thinking of more obscure characters who could get a reinvention, how about the Living Mummy? He's a common enough ally of Elsa Bloodstone and could fit nicely in the Midnight Sons, and he could make for a good monster of the week plot (which is what I feel would be an ideal format for an Elsa series). Perhaps she's investigating reports of undead in North Africa, encounters him as a shambling, mindless menace, and learns through her studies that he was robbed of his name and thus his soul, forcing her to figure out his true name so he can become whole again. Upon having his name returned, she learns from him that he was robbed of his name by Rakses when he was mummified alive by him, and the two work together to stop a freshly-resurrected Rakses from unleashing a horde of unblessed dead and reclaiming his old kingdom. After resealing Rakses, N'Kantu would stick around as an ally, possibly with a sorcerous power boost so he can stand out among the Midnight Sons.
