Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It stands for "Really Wanted Our Name To Spell Out 'RESCUE'."

It’s just selfish of her

If there's anything I've learned from Codename: Kids Next Door it's that acronyms are always fun.
Thinking back on the return of the Netflix-verse to canon, who should be the arc villain of the upcoming seasons? Here's what I'm hoping:
- Daredevil: Owl Jr./Leland's son (already confirmed to have been planned)
- Jessica Jones: Jester (Daredevil villain, but a sociopathic troll who loves to smear people and destroy their lives would work really well in this day and age, and Jess would work if she was hired by someone desperate to clear their name and figure out just who was trying to destroy their life)
- Luke Cage: I dunno. Maybe Coldfire, but a). he's extremely obscure and b). you think we would have heard if Luke had another sibling by now.
- Punisher: Bushwacker, who would do well as the logical conclusion of what Frank could have become had he become ruled by his fanaticism and personal dogma, and an insane cyborg wouldn't be too out there for the tone of his show.
- The Defenders: Barracuda/Fisk and Kirigi/The Hand; the idea is that both Fisk and the Hand are desperate to reestablish themselves and are willing to take extreme measures to do so, and hiring a ludicrously dangerous mercenary who he knows is probably going to turn on him (Fisk) and awakening an ancient demonic warrior who they can barely control (the Hand) would be the consequences of this. Basically a villain war that turns into even more of a clusterfuck when their biggest weapons get way out of hand, with the Defenders stuck in the middle (though Echo could logically join forces with them).
I'd be fine with Iron Fist not getting another season unless they can make it not be complete ass. If Elektra gets her own show, Bullseye would be the easiest pick.

It doesn't matter that Iron Fist Season 2 wasn't ass.
Iron Fist sucking is what people believe to be its natural state.
The backlash was massive and all consuming (or at least it feels that way with how the Internet sometimes acts).
Season 2 being better just wasn't enough. It's clear that even if the other Netflix characters come back, Danny staying gone.
One Strip! One Strip! It’s highly unlikely that anything involving the Netflix characters will be a direct continuation of anything from their shows.
I’m expecting Broad Strokes, at best. Most likely we’ll get new content with them played by the same people, but going in new directions and featuring new tones and ideas. Like how Hawkeye used Kingpin.

First impressions matter a lot in media.
Even seven seasons in, a lot of people still think Agents of SHIELD was what it was in the first half of its first season.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah. The Inhumans have been on a break. It was supposed to last five years and happened some time around the time when the show bombed and Fox finally gave up the rights to the X-Men (and the FF).
But I think it might have already been longer. I can't remember where it was said that they were taking that five year break, or how long it's been since then.
One Strip! One Strip!I dunno, I've seen a decent amount of support for it returning. Not as much as Daredevil obviously, but none of the shows can compete with the SaveDaredevil campaign.
It has a loud Hatedom but I don't think they're so massive nor so representative of the average viewer as to make it "clear", unless you have something to back that up.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! In terms of popularity among the overall fandom, my personal (possibly subjective) impression of the order of the Netflix shows would be:
1. Daredevil (by a wide margin)
2. Jessica Jones
3. The Punisher (possibly interchangeable with JJ?)
4. Luke Cage
5. Iron Fist

Well the Inhumans show debuted in September 2017, so if the Inhumans break was in reaction to it bombing then no it hasn't quite been 5 years yet.
Marvel was only bothering to push the Inhumans so heavily in the first place because Fox owned the X-Men film rights, so they wanted to make more Inhuman characters they could use instead of mutant characters that Fox could use.
But the Inhumans have always been kinda shit. And now that Marvel has the X-Men rights back, there's no reason to keep trying to make Inhumans happen.

I gotta give Killian props on one thing; he somehow played his web of lies well enough to turn what was a purely defensive cover-up conspiracy into him almost taking control of the US government.
