Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

I will never be over how Jason Todd and Bucky Barnes, the other two, got resurrected at pretty much the same exact time.
I'm waiting for the comics to go
"Hey,guess what,Uncle Ben never actually died because he was really Mephisto all along!"
New theme music also a boxAt least Bucky got a cool resurrection story. Jason got "Superboy punched reality so hard he's alive now". Also funny: how they both hit similar plot points and ended up as a brooding gun-toting version of their mentor.
Reading this.
As a thank you to Peter for his heroism and resilience, Doctor Strange rewards Peter with a birthday present — a restored Uncle Ben. From Ben's perspective, no time has passed since his death. The two briefly talk and get a moment together, where Peter tells Ben that he's happy with the life he's earned. But the spell turns out only to be temporary, and Ben fades away back into the ether, letting Peter know how proud he is of him as he goes.
...I would, unironically, love to see something like this in NWH more than I want to see the old rogues and Tobey/Andrew. Actually seeing Uncle Ben and his influence would improve MCU!Peter IMO.

Though Jason's origin has since been simplified to simply being dunked in a Lazarus Pit.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah, the difference in quality between the stories at the time was pretty hilarious. Specifically I found out about the Winter Soldier miniseries because of my frustrations with the Infinite Crisis mess at the time and the ridiculousness of Superboy Prime and everything else, and it was recommended to me as the superior and less Narmtastic alternative. Which only serves to annoy me more at how the Big Two have treated Ed Brubaker.

MCU Peter has such a non-connection with Uncle Ben, that they would probably just do it with Tony instead.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. So, who would be a good Ben Parker for the MCU if he ever gets to cameo in a flashback?
I mean, after all, considering Marisa Tomei plays Aunt May, the guy has to be a total hunk.
Leonardo Di Caprio.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."That's fitting because its how his return was first teased in Hush, although it wound up being a red herring.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersJason Alexander as Ben, as a callback to that one episode of Seinfeld.
Morgon Freeman
New theme music also a boxAs a fellow proponent of Hot Uncle Ben, I propose Rob Lowe. Same age, known for being handsome in the 80s and 90s, fairly hunky until today, and very smiley on Parks and Rec.

On another note I was on archive of our own checking relationship tags and so here are the most popular pairings in Marvel at 498996 fics total.
Number 1 is as you guessed it James "Bucky" Barnes/Steve Rogers (55450), after that is Steve Rogers/Tony Stark (38699).
The most popular hetero ship is Pepper Potts/Tony Stark (19582) which is 3rd most popular pairing overall.
After that its Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier (15674), Loki/Thor (Marvel) (13412) & huh Clint Barton/Natasha Romanov (11408).
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."at least its not Hulk x black widow
New theme music also a boxI think that tells us a lot about how well Marvel sells their canon romances
I recall Clintasha being INSANELY popular after Avengers based on that post-brainwashing "Budapest" scene, although I think it nosedived after MCU Hawkeye was revealed to be a family man. (I disliked Bruce/Natasha but I'm sure some people didn't!)

And the 7th popular is......... James "Bucky" Barnes/Reader (10963) what?
Huh Loki/Tony Stark (10685) is 8th.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Shipping with your oc. Lmao
Do Tony and Loki even interact that much beyond the whole meme conversation (I have an army. But we have a hulk).
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I don't hate Bruce/Natasha in concept, only in execution.
Which is at least in part because its half setting up 'and thats why these two would never work' and half acting like it actually is some great romance.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOkay yup no one likes Bruce/Nat.
I have had to exclude like 20 pairings and even down at the 1800 fic point I can't find Bruce/Nat, its that deep in.
Its so low Punisher/Karen Page has a higher amount of listed fics at 1909 than Bruce/Nat.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."...could we go for someone who isn't a pedophile?
...................................................you learn something new everyday, huh.............
But no worries, I have a backup Hot Uncle Ben suggestion in Timothy Olyphant.
Even on a basic level, I wasn't fond of the idea of Bruce / Nat because it's was a blatant "these two characters had a subplot in the first film, why not just throw them into a romance?" move and felt like an shallow attempt at an obligatory romance.
But yeah, it could've been salvaged from that except that the execution of it then ended up making it even worse.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Considering the pairings I listed are clearly primarily influenced by the movies, its telling that Bruce/Nat is so low.
It clearly did not pick up any fans in Age of Ultron.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
The fans rolling with absurd death-resurrections because they like the characters is really just par for the course for comics fandom. "No one's ever really gone" is really applicable. Except Uncle Ben!
