Someone on the last page mentioned that Thanos is related to the Eternals, but I should point out that is strictly a comics thing, not a movie thing.

Comic-wise, the people of Titan are Eternals and Thanos was born to them.

But he’s actually a Mutant so he wound up being born with an appearance resembling a Deviant than an Eternal.

I know we were just talking about not expecting everything to be X-Men set up. That said, how wild would it be if The Marvels not only gave us two Captain Marvels and a Ms. Marvel, but also one Jean Grey, alias Marvel Girl?

...I think the Blue Marvel is much more likely than that.

And I don't actually think he's very likely at all.

There's also Marvel Boy/Noh-Varr.

Yeah there's a lot of Marvels at Marvel.

Speaking of the X-men, there is been some theories that Mystique and rogue will be the villains because they first appeared in a Ms. Marvel story.

It would be cool if they did the story about rogue absorbing carols powers and she got her white hair from carols blonde hair.

Probably not since the film will also have Monica and Kamala.

It probably has to be a threat that requires all three.

We don't really have a top limit for Monica yet but extrapolation from her comic self makes me wonder how many threats there could be in a film where she's teamed up with someone who physically overpowered freaking Thanos and wrecks whole fleets single-handed.

(I love Kamala as a character but she is WAY down the other end of the power scale so her contribution seems unlikely to be a physical one given the discrepancy in power.)

I’m presuming the Kree are going to be the main villains here, probably after revenge. I imagine the Supreme Intelligence would make anti Carol countermeasures.

They prolly figured something out.

The Shi’ar have it way easier to pick suitable competition with their Imperial Guard. Gladiator could probably give Carol a really tough fight if not out and out win. The Skrulls have well...Super Skrull and the like. I guess their take on Genis-vile?

The Shi’ar also have their own Gods I think.

Jane-Thor faced them in some Godly competition and what not.

Meanwhile the Supreme Intelligence at one point decided the best thing to do with the Kree was blow them all up and start over.

I know a lot of people don't like him but I absolutely loved Ronan the Accuser in GotG. He's a pure-grade Classic Villain, so simple in his righteous zeal that he comes across like a Psychopathic Manchild, and Lee Pace sells the absolute shit out of it, and it will never stop bumming me out that he's dead.

I actually think Kamala and Monica explicitly being in the plot makes Mystique and Rogue more likely, tbh.

Plotwise, it makes sense. Kamala and Monica are less experienced and unproven in the superhero field, unsure of their full power as of yet, each inspired to a degree by Carol. But then, they face a threat who steals Carol's power and lifeforce, leaving her out of commission while they have to face a threat with just as much power as Carol by themselves. Add that to a splash of From Nobody to Nightmare: maybe the story gears us up for thinking some big invasion is going to be the big issue, but then that gets taken care of and instead this megalomaniacal mercenary and her abused daughter are the real major threat instead.

Much like my previous Rogue and Mystique idea, I'd axe the bit about Carol being in the coma (the climax should be Carol emotionally appealing to Rogue and convincing her to ditch Mystique, getting her powers back and using them to stop whatever Mystique is up to), but a Parasite-style story makes sense for an ensemble.

Ronan the Accuser sounds like a really bad prosecutor

Yeah, I really liked GOTG's Ronan too, even if he was a flat character. He was less flat than Malekith, at least (an actual motive helps), and his actor nails the "hammy Flash Gordon villain" feel of what they were going for.

"YOU STAND ACCUSED!" is one of my favorite random Marvel quotes.

I was just thinking that. Plus, Kamala being at the lower end of power levels means that she can fight Mystique personally, solving one of the problems with that pitch, which was that Mystique herself deserves a fight scene or two but she's so much weaker than Carol that it was hard to justify giving her one.

If Carol comes back at the end and helps stop Rogue with Monica, that gives Kamala to opportunity to fight Mystique herself, and that would be an interesting match-up since Kamala is a powerful but inexperienced teenager while Mystique is weaker but a much better fighter and the plot centers around her abusing a teenager.

Have the movie end with Kamala and Rogue being best friends.

I guess it makes more sense than Kamala being opposite characters that could challenge Binary and Carol directly, like say, Count Nefaria or Supremor androids.

Although they could do what the Avengers game tried to do and have Kamala fight giant Kree Sentry robots, even if they were blatantly Sentinel expies there.
