Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Exactly.
Winter Soldier works because they all fit into clear roles. Batroc's just there for an action setpiece in the opening. Pierce is the Non-Action Big Bad, while the Winter Soldier serves as his muscle as well as the emotional centerpiece for the protagonist. Rumlow is there to provide a secondary physical combatant when Bucky is unavailable, and Zola's a One-Scene Wonder to tie the plot to the first film. Aside from Batroc they're all part of a singular, cohesive plotline about HYDRA weaseling its way into the modern day under SHIELD.
In Raimi's Spider-Man 3 you have... Harry Osborne as an active villain with his own plotline, Sandman as an active villain with his own plotline, and Eddie Brock/Venom as an active villain with his own plotline.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Here's my theory: a bounty is put on Peter's head because of the crimes he's framed for, and he spends the whole movie fending off various superpowered folk attacking him so they can claim the reward. Lets you have Spider-Man tangle with a lot of different villains without needing to give each baddie complex or individual motivations; they're looking for a payday, pure and simple.
RE: Alfred Molina's tell-all regarding No Way Home:
So we really are going the multiverse route, eh? And if Doc Ock coming is the same one from Spider-Man 2, then I guess the same will be true for Jamie Foxx's Electro?
I guess my main concern with this development is whether or not it debunks the potential of an MCU!Doc Ock to appear eventually. I mean, Molina's almost in his 70s for the record, so if he's our MCU!Otto going forward, I only hope he won't have to do anything too exhausting. And side note: Willem Dafoe's in his mid-60s, so if he's showing up in NWH as Norman Osborn too, then same thing, hope he isn't gonna have to do anything rigorous. Basically, these guys aren't getting any younger.
And this is really overdue, but the newest Loki trailer having that visual about "branching timelines" has reaffirmed my suspicion that this could be the "in" that ropes Deadpool into the MCU since the end of Deadpool 2 had him creating a lot of branching timelines.
Oh, and the Loki trailer also had a place called "Roxxcart". Might this be how Roxxon gets back into the public consciousness since it sort of disappeared after Agent Carter and the Netflix shows are all in that weird state of canon limbo?

In fairness, Squirrel Girl's gimmick outside of her own book once she had one was annoyance that her usual methods didn't work as well when she was on a team
Although she did once manage to radicalize a swarm of rats
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'd like Deadpool to be set up with Mojo in Mojoworld. Have it so Mojo teleports Deadpool from what seems to be the foxverse to Mojoworld where he is basically broadcasting (his version of) the MCU to the multiverse and he thinks Deadpool would add "value to the property". So Deadpool becomes Deadpool: Into the Mojoverse.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Awesome teaser.
I'm really interested in the use of magical elements. Like we see a liondog briefly and some other creatures have been teased by some of the merchandise. And I'm curious about what seem to be Mongol warriors at one point in the clip.
I wonder if there's going to be some kind of overarching Ancient Astronauts connected to the Eternals. Maybe also in Kamala's origin, instead of the Inhumans, since no one likes them?

The Goblin tends to be his own thing, separate from the Sinister Six.
I'm hoping the last Sony tie-in film after this one is a Dark Reign adaptation, so they can use Norman there.
