Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I know that, which is why it's such a common theory. My question is if there's something beyond circumstantial evidence (even if it's compelling circumstantial evidence) pointing towards that conclusion.
More then once I've seen fandoms or segments of fandoms get blindsided when a, potentially quite reasonable, theory got repeated so often it was widely assumed to be canon but then turned out not to be canon after all.
Oh, concrete evidence? Yeah, there really isn't any, it's just the obvious solution to the problem. Marvel hasn't given us any clues one way or the other.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonAll solo Spider-Man MCU movies post-No Way Home will be on Netflix post-theatrical under a new first look pact
that will end Sony's Starz deal after this year.
Obviously there are fans wondering about what this means for Disney/Marvel potentially retconning Spider-Man out of MCU but a) Disney/Marvel probably knew this was coming, and b) they won't give a shit because Disney/Marvel doesn't "own" the copyrights to solo Spider-Man MCU movies anyway and make money more off merchandise and games. As long as these movies get a theatrical release Disney/Marvel won't care.
Kevin Feige isn't Ike Perlmutter.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherI'm not a sub to Shitflix but it's a much needed cash infusion to Sony, who still hasn't charted out a strategy beyond milking Spider-Man for all its worth and reviving 90s franchises long past their prime.
Also, this article's
worth reading for those who think MCU Spider-Man is doomed.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherSpider-Man movies have zero impact on the MCU metaplot anyway. For that matter, is Spider-Man who would be affected if at some point they cut ties with Disney (which let's be honest, they will).
The Home series worldbuilding is dependent of what's happening in the rest of the MCU. Not even actual MCU movies use a lot of elements from others. It's gonna be weird when they do cut ties and the entire worldbuilding done so far will be Exiled from Continuity.
Yeah, Marvel's learning they don't need Spider-Man all the time for the MCU to work. Especially since X-Men and Fantastic Four are now in the pipeline and Kev wants to get those greenlit ASAP.
The last thing Marvel wants to do is to make WB/DC's mistakes and center everything on only the heroes people know or care about.
"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherI mean if you look at when Homecoming came out I think it’s more marvel learned before then that they didn’t need spider man to make all the money
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think the concern is that if/when Spidey's movie rights go back to Sony Marvel will do to him what they did to Fantastic Four and X-Men and act like he doesn't exist/create a shitty Expy of him in the comics universe, something I highly doubt since Perlmutter has no real power in Marvel left.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherShe fought a bird-Edison! What more do you want!
Although if you’re saying the recent run lacked luster then yeah
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah from what I hear her current run has been rather middling for the most part and even the last one lost some of its spark around the end.
She needs the good hard-hitting stuff, the type of stuff where storyline’s get their own pages like Kraven’s Last Hunt.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I am a bit confused. So how does Spiderman movies being on Netflix post theatrical at all mean that they will break away completely. I feel like I am missing something here. But even if they do that post No Way home. Holland as Spiderman still has to appear in one more MCU film.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadAgain after no way home. Tom's contract is for one more MCU project. Which I kind of assumed would be a Young Avengers thing. Though it could be Doctor Strange 2. Which still wouldn't make sense to me personally.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadWhat do you guys think that last MCU project will be for Tom? If you take the Netflix thing as them just cutting the deal entirely. Though I am still unsure how those two things connect.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadAngelica! (Work, work!) Eliza! And Peggy! (Work, work!) The Schuyler sisters!!
Wait, no. Just Angelica of the Schuyler Sisters, or more accurately, her actress Renée Elise Goldsberry, is joining She-Hulk as....someone!
EDIT: Happy 126,600th post, y'all!

Him being Shang-Chi's father is a pretty obvious option for replacing the whole Fu Manchu thing. Though wasn't his father eventually renamed in the comics as well?
