Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Another bonus to using the Asian X-Men members is that most of them are Japanese. No need to appease the ccp nor hire problematic mainland chinese actresses who'd spew ccp garbage.
Regarding Agents of Atlas, Wandavision did prove that the MCU's Jimmy Woo does have what it takes to headline a superhero team.
Set! Avenge! "Henshin." Black General! Bujin Sword! Ready, Fight!Wanda Vision was really good at showing just how competent Jimmy Woo is. I think he's also genuinely one of my favorite characters in that show.
In terms of Asian superheroes, well, all I'm thinking of is Kamala Khan. Oh, and I guess Cindy Moon, whose solo I did really like.
When we're done, there won't be anything left. She was in Agents of Atlas for about five minutes, just long enough to grab lunch. But she was too big a character to stay on the book.
Plus, two teams? She's not Wolverine
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt’s the simplest way through the weird plausibly fetishistic race stuff around the characters
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThere's also Yukio (if they're continuing The Wolverine's interpretation of her as a mutant), Surge (Noriko), Indra and the new Sprite among the X-men. I guess Dust as well given she's Afghan.
If the MCU does adapt Psylocke, I hope they get someone of Japanese descent and not go for the interchangeable Asian route. I can imagine Minami Tsukui, Nao Nagasawa or possibly even Rinko Kikuchi in the role given Kwannon in the comics is actually a mother.
I also forgot a couple more Asian X-Men characters, Trinary from X-Men Red and of course Jubilee.

Set! Avenge! "Henshin." Black General! Bujin Sword! Ready, Fight!I know comics!Mantis is Vietnamese, but I'm also pretty sure she runs into a boatload of stereotypes of Asian women. I only know of some other non-Atlas/X-Men ones like Hazmat from Avengers Academy.
In terms of Latino rep, I feel like Marvel's biggest heroes are their more recent legacies, especially Miles Morales (who would be dependent on deal making with Sony). There are also characters like America Chavez who are getting adapted in future projects.

A bit of my issue there, can't really think of many Latino heroes that can stand on their own.
Like Black Panther and Luke Cage are their own guys but Miles and to use a DC example Jessica Cruz from Green Lanterns are kinda cluttered from being very connected to other heroes.

The issue with legacies is and Joaqin Torres is a good example.
Falcon gets promoted to Cap, becomming the MC MC. We get a new Falcon in Torres who is a major supporting character of Sam.
Sam then loses the Cap title, being demoted to Major Supporting Character of Cap which means Torres gets demoted into comic book limbo, being at most a reserve member of the Champions.
Same with Sam Alexander. Once the Richard Rider Nova came back, Sam lost his placement as the galaxy's defender and is now just shunted off into group comics like Champions.
With Green Lantern, Jess has to fight for spotlight with the other GL's including other minority characters. Simon Baz who is a rare Middle-Eastern Lebanese man has been completly shunted by DC in favor of giving Jess all the spotlight.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Reptil is good
And he’s even recently come back to life from having a nuke explode in his mouth

The new Agents of Atlas has a bunch of good ones, although granted a lot of them are on the newer side.
Still. Some cool options there.
I'd watch the hell out of a Crescent and Io show. Sadly she doesn't have a lot of material to base one on.
