Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Her first outfit was made out of a burkini (a swimsuit based on the burqa). Which is quite funny, since Carol's Ms Marvel costume was sometimes compared to a bathing suit. Would be neat if they keep that detail. I wonder if she'll get a proper super-suit, or if she'll just be stuck with that one.

Her burkini suit was still a super suit because her friend with tension Bruno used his super snot project on it which let it stretch and contract with Kamala
There was some biz about not getting it wet but it has never come up, even when she’s gotten it wet
Forever liveblogging the Avengers"Kamala's super suit has gotten all wet. It's completely useless now".
The biggest question about Kamala is how she gains her powers, because she originally gained her powers from the Terrigen gas activating her Inhuman genes (according to the summaries I've read) so reworking will be necessary

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI think there was a point later in the first issue where she goes to the local corner store whose cashier she's friends with (can't recall the names of either, sorry) and there are robbers there? So adapting that as her empowering event is a possibility.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrThe point is that so far the only appearance of the Inhumans and terrigenesis were in Agents of Shield and the Inhumans series, none of which are officially canon in the MCU (not matter how much I'd like AoS to be, if only partially). So they will need either to establish very quickly that the Inhumans exist in the MCU, make either series canon, or find another explanation entirely for Kamala's powers.
They could also go the Spiderman route and just have her pop up with those powers without explanation, but that would be cheating.
Guess the easiest would be to retcon her into a mutant if they don't want to spend too much time introducing the Inhumans. Or find another completely different explanation for her powers (could she gain them from Carol Danvers, in the same way Carol gained them from Mar-Vell in the comics?).

Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.I think mutants and Inhumans would be equally difficult to introduce as a concept really
There was a lot of discussion during Wandavision on whether mutants should have been around All Along or created by the Blip or by Wanda so I don’t see the point that it would be simpler to make her a mutant
Anyway if you make her an Inhuman you can still use that terrigen cloud to explain her powers AND explain where other Inhuman characters/enemies are coming from AND give her an arc about investigating where her powers came from
Forever liveblogging the AvengersKamala won't be made a mutant, that'd be weird. I can't see a world in which the concept of mutants doesn't debut in the X-Men movie coming out.
Most likely, they'll do the terrigen mist stuff, and just gloss over the Inhuman Royal family because that's not important to this story.
And Kamala suddenly gaining her powers instead of getting them because of her own actions would miss the point by a longshot.

I honestly think that Kamala won't be an Inhuman not because of canonicity issues with AOS, but rather because the entire Inhumans brand has become toxic, between the awful show and the universally-despised shilling they got in the 2010s.
Adding to that, hasn't it been confirmed that Feige has never been particularly fond of the Inhumans and cancelled their movie after he no longer had to answer to Perlmutter because he knew he had no passion for the property?
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonIIRC he canceled it for two reasons, there was no real way to integrate them into the overall story at that time (IW and EG were already overstuffed as is...) and they couldn't find the right team of creatives to do them justice. As we saw with the eventual Inhumans show its not a show or a concept that can be done slapdash.
But those were the Royal Family.
The Royal Family doesn't have a lot of fans. Except Lockjaw almost unanimously and Crystal, sometimes.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersMaybe they could use the Eternals instead, and give Kamala a distant Eternal ancestry. After all, the Eternals and Inhumans have kinda the same kind of origin (being created in the distant past by very advanced aliens), so maybe they will tweak the Eternals a bit so that they can fulfil the role of the Inhumans if needed.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.Lockjaw was a supporting character in Kamala’s early arcs!
He disappeared without explanation or fanfare though
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe sizzle reel has what looks like an allusion to Maximus the Mad
("Cool Guy" looks like him) so I'm pretty sure she's still gonna be an Inhuman.

Kamala’s superhero outfit is based on a real garment so it’s a fairly easy adaptation
