Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Am I the only one who thinks the showrunner was lying through his teeth when he said he was happy his show wasn't part of the MCU?
It was D.O.A as a project that basically happened while the deal was terminated, but it is still based on a Marvel property. So it's a Marvel property, even if retroactively ruled out of the MCU.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."This was the result of Kevin Feige getting complete control over Marvel's TV output. The previous shows were done under the purview of Jeph Loeb's division, which has since been shuttered. That's part of the reason the new shows have a much greater degree of connectivity to the movies than stuff like Agents of SHIELD or the Netflix shows did.
Huh I just now thought of this after thinking about War Machine’s upcoming Armor Wars show.
Who’s designing/upgrading the armors now?
Like Tony was the one maintaining, upgrading, and just coming up with all sorts of new stuff for his, Rhodey, and Pepper’s armors. So whose gonna develop the Mark VIII (Endgame’s armor was the Mark VII/7) now that’s he’s gone?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Rocket, Riri Williams... Maybe that Harley kid as well? Peter Parker also got his hands on some Stark tech. Probably not going to take over full time but certainly he could play a part, depending on how his own life goes.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."In Far From Home Peter used some kind of armour 3D-printer (nanites can do everything...), and that was a small one fitting on a plane. Tony probably left a few more of those around (probably at least in the Avengers compound). So there may not be a breakthrough in armour design, but anybody with an access to one can now mix and match the armour of their choice.
And I guess Shuri or Bruce could find new improvements on their own.

Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.I'm pretty sure the Yellowjacket suit by itself (without the shrinking capacities) would not have lasted long against any Stark armour. Right now I don't remember if it could even fly when at normal size?
Then again it is quite possible that some of Stark's simpler designs made it to public domain or were eventually copied or reverse engineered. Or possibly Hammer managed to leak some of Vanko's work just to spite Tony.

x3 Nitpick, but if a Stark armor would be in the public domain, it wouldn't be until like 2098 because of extensions of how long IP can be withheld from the public domain.
Cross-posted from the Falcon and Winter Soldier thread (no spoilers): Comics Beat: Ed Brubaker has "mixed feelings" about The Falcon and the Winter Soldier:
So yeah, mixed feeling, and maybe it'll always be like that (but I sure hope not). Work-for-hire work is what it is, and I'm honestly thrilled to have co-created something that's become such a big part of pop culture – or even pop subculture with all the Bucky-Steve slash fiction – and that run on Cap was one of the happiest times of my career, certainly while doing superhero comics. Also, I have a great life as a writer and much of it is because of Cap and the Winter Soldier bringing so many readers to my other work. But I also can't deny feeling a bit sick to my stomach sometimes when my inbox fills up with people wanting comments on the show.
So… I'm sure I'll watch it, and you should too if you’re a Marvel movie universe fan, but I'll probably be waiting a while to check it out myself. So please don't email me any spoilers, I guess, but go give Sebastian Stan lots of love wherever he is online.
T;dr he's becoming increasingly irritated with just nominal credit for pretty much creating the Winter Soldier (and says that he's seen some executives try to take credit for it), though he has a lot of respect for the actors and Kevin Feige.

Didn't they eventually say Helstrom wasn't part of the MCU once it was clear the Adventure into Fear thing wasn't happening?
