Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Starfox’s real name is Eros and how he got the name Starfox is amazing
When he decided to join the Avengers because bored, the Avengers for reasons of uh sure why not went up to the president who they just saved from a plant man hostage situation. The president okayed this random Titan becoming an Avenger but said that he couldn’t go by Eros because it would offend the religious
So Wasp said “well you’re from space and you’re foxy. So you’re Starfox now”
Wasp is good at naming
Forever liveblogging the AvengersMy vote would be for Namor to be played by Shahrukh Khan. He's able to pull off the right mix of arrogance and sex appeal that the role requires.
By now, it should be clear to all except the most dense of us that sheep are secretly conspiring to kill us all and steal our pants.
x2 Well, she's the one who came up with "Avengers", so that checks out.
Reposting:
I assumed that from the picture Monica finds but it’s still weird that Jimmy Woo doesn’t react- but then again I guess it’d be a bad idea to publicly announce “HEY THATS THE GUY IN WITNESS PROTECTION ITS THAT GUY”
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell...
There's a reason Feige and co haven't gone out and said outright "oh, sure. This is happening exactly as fans want it to happen." Because A) it probably isn't happening exactly as fans want it to happen, B) even if it was, it's not happening in a timely fashion, and C) stuff like that you want to keep under wraps for NDA purposes.
Now, compound that with the fact that even though this guy is the director of Wandavision, if he's like any other director at Marvel Studios he doesn't actually have any inside information about the other projects Marvel is doing beyond what he needed to know for his series, you have someone who doesn't have a full picture giving promises about future content the higher ups don't want to reveal.
Huh.
My guess is that they want to leave his actual role ambiguous for the time being.
Does he reject Sam's claim to the mantle of Captain America because he genuinely believes that America, not Captain America, get's to make the decision, or because he's super racist and can't handle the idea of a black Captain America. Or does he truly reject it at all, but is willing to set aside his personal feelings on the matter if that's what his country asks of him?
Is he a government-approved Captain America who might clash with the heroes but ultimately is a decent guy who will do the right thing when the chips are down, or will he effectively be on Zemo's side, if unwittingly.
Did the government actually succeed in replicating the super soldier serum, or is he just a guy dressed up in a Captain America costume?
My personal guess, with very little evidence, is that he's going to be an antagonist until late in the series where he gets killed or otherwise incapacitated and gives the shield to Sam so he can be the next Cap.
I would be very surprised if the government had managed to replicate the super soldier process.
They did say it would have taken... what was it? Decades? to get the Serum right. It'd be funny if they managed to make something functional just by the modern day. Wouldn't trust them to follow Ersksine's guidelines on candidate selection, though.
Wonder if they'd adapt a bunch of failed experiments that got frozen over the years.

Wake me up at your own risk. The Super Serum Blonsky took seems to have been a successful recreation of the original. It didn't give him a new physique, but it did dramatically increase his physical performance. It essentially gave him the vitality of his youth.
The problem with Blonsky is that he was a Blood Knight, and the serum took that Up To Eleven. It's debatable whether that was due to issues with the Serum itself or Blonsky simply getting intoxicated by the power it gave him.

Disgusted, but not surprised

If Thanos' brother in the comics goes by Star Fox, I refuse to think of Thanos' full name as anything but Thanos Mc Cloud (and of course that would apply to Gamora and Nebula, duh)
