Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

Given how poor Asian representation is in Marvel's shows I don't know if that's possible
New theme music also a boxOutside of the Netflix shows, it is actually pretty good…especially in Agents of Shield, but Runaways has also an Asian main character and the first season of Cloak and Dagger and an Asian recurring character.
Well, they did find an actual Half Japanese, Half Chinese woman to play Colleen Wing didn't they?
I agree it's poor, but Marvel does seem to be willing to go the distance...though I'm not saying they haven't had their bungles. Iron Fist and The Ancient One prove that.
One Strip! One Strip!Colleen is half-white American, half-Japanese. Her actress is half-white, half-Asian of some kind, I don't remember which.
Well, the did put Shang-Chi on the schedule...pretty much since Feige is no longer under Perlmutter thumb he has gone out of his way to add as diverse properties as possible to the line-up.
Re: The funny thing is when the MCU first started, I didn't even realize it was supposed to be a thing.
Pretty much the same for me. I think Thor was the first one where i caught on these were part of the same universe due to the appearance of Nick Fury in The Stinger.
I kinda remember one documentary stating they wanted to make the first few movies stand alone, in case the whole MCU idea ended up falling apart.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Which was a good idea. The movies need to be able to stand alone as much as possible in general, it's just even more important early on.
One of the (many) mistakes DC made was trying to create their cinematic universe as fast as possible. Note that Wonder Woman had only the barest connection to the rest of the universe, and it's the best one. They need room to breathe.
An important thing with the MCU is that many of the main characters were all established in their own solo works. We got to see how they worked by themselves. We know what they are even without each other. This makes the prospect of all of these characters working together very appealing.
"Any campaign world where an orc samurai can leap off a landcruiser to fight a herd of Bulbasaurs will always have my vote of confidence"I was already into Marvel do I just saw Iron Man and took it from there. Not sure when I picked up on there being a cinematic universe though. I do remember looking at all the superhero films that were rumoured or in development hell; so damn many, even back then.
I'd probably want a X-Men roster with a few of the more well-known and a few more obscure, doesn't really have to match a comics roster
I just learned that the release date in Germany will be earlier...not by much, but for some reason they will release the movie on Wednesday instead on Thursday (which is the usual release day for new movies), with pre-premiere showings on Tuesday.
Yipeeeeeeeeee!!!!! This way I actually might manage to get to the movie completely unspoiled!!!!! Time to start avoiding all Marvel related sources.
Why is there are tiny bird in the background?
Maybe it's Redwing?
Where there's life, there's hope. It's the Guardians' ship.
Yeah, that's the Guardian's ship. I like that Thor still has two differently colored eyes. I think that's a new Hulkbuster design.
It is what it is.
My various fanfics.Sounds legit.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!One of my new favorite youtubers had a dumb idea and turned it into a tounge-in-cheek video.
@fasoman1996: I approve .
Carol was a distraction.
Uni catSpeaking of Carol: The movie is still going strong. It will most likely be knocked from place one this weekend, but it nevertheless will reach the top ten of the highest grossing MCU movies domestically (it already is worldwide), and I think by now we can say for sure that it will catch every single MCU movie which made less than a billion in the box office. If it will join the billion club remains to be seen, but it is on track.
Wait I can top that meme.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
If they do use the Giant-Size lineup (that sounds weird), then lets hope they use an actual German for Nightcrawler, an actual Asian for Sunfire, an actual Russian for Colossus, an actual Canadian for Wolverine, etc.
