I have been gone for a while, both from this site and from gaming in real life, and now wish to spread my wings a little with a maid game. Any setting would work for me, as well as any mood or fandom. have a maid I wish to play, but will be okay with rolling randomly if neccicary.

Narrowing of the type of game this will be will probably come from the other players and/or the GM. I would prefer the Seduction and Comfort rules be allowed, but this is a soft limit.

Anyone interested? I can post the character if you wish, though its nothing special

Hrmm. I've been kind of interested in running or playing a Maid game for a while, so if no one more experienced is willing to step up, I could take a shot at it if there's interest.

Preferably a lighter game, no trauma tables or grimdark things like that, but I'm willing to get potential player input on everything.

I've never done one of these 'Maid' RPG's before, but I'd be more than happy to try my hand... if someone could show me where I find that system for creating a character. Everone else seems to know the Lolita, -1 altheticism type stuff, but I can't find a link anywhere.

It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.

this can be used to make a character. The book can be purchased from the maid rpg website, or downloaded by a third party for pdf. I won't link to such a site, seeing as how the legality of such a thing is under debate for me.

I hold interest as well, posting random character:

Jezebel Age: 15 Athletics: 2 Affection: 3 Skill: 1 Cunning: 4 Luck: 2 Will: 3 Uniform Color: vermillion Hair Color: pink Eye Color: yellow Maid Types: Sexy, Sexy Special Qualities: Pro Creator, Skull Mark,Angel/Devil,Elf Ears Favored Attribute: Cunning Maid Power: Mockery; World for Two Maid Roots: Loyalty Maid Weapon: Exotic Weapon Stress Explosion: Mischief

Your name is Jezebel. You are 15 years old. You have yellow eyes and pink hair, and wear a vermillion uniform. You are very sexy; others describe you as glamorous, curvy and coquettish.

Along with being a maid, you are professional artist.

You feel great loyalty to the master. In combat, you wield an unorthodox weapon such as a boomerang, qatar, African throwing iron or the like. When you are extremely upset, you play troublesome tricks on the master and the other maids. Due to your notable Cunning, you have the ability Mockery; When someone is taking Stress points, you can mock them and cause them to gain an additional 2 Stress points. (This must be roleplayed.) You also have the power of World for Two; By taking 1d6 Stress, you can create a "world" for you and one other person, where for 5 minutes no one else can intrude.

Huh. Something went wrong with the random generator on you, it looks like: With those stats, you only qualify for one power (since they tally well over 9) and World For Two is an affection power, not Cunning, so it shouldn't have come up in any case.

Other than that, approved.

Oh, and Mizumi, go ahead and post your pre-maid (heh). I don't imagine it'll be anything I find questionable (well, beyond the regular amount for a Maid game).

Optional Rules wise, I'll allow Comfort and Seduction unless someone strongly objects, as well as the Random Events rules, but we'll stay away from Head Maids and Butlers since I think most of us are pretty new, ditto costumes and items.

And since there is in fact interest, I'll roll up a master and a mansion...

Character-

Name: Haruka

Gender: Female

Age: 15

Type: Boyish Lolita Maid

Athletics: 4

Affection: 1

Skill: 2

Cunning: 3

Luck: 4

Will: 2

Spirit: 20; Favor: 2

Special Qualities: Shy, Immortal, Amnesiac, Patchwork

Maid Roots: Slave

Stess Explosion: Violence

Maid Weapon: Internal Weapon (Tentacles)

Maid Power (Athletics): Weapon from Nowhere

Soooo the maid is an idea me and a friend of mine made up one night. Her history would revolve around her being an artificial being, created for whoknowswhat reason. She has NORMAL Weapons...with other uses if she can get beyond her shyness.

Like I said, this character is not a hard limit, merely something I wished to play

[up]Sounds like a Genderbent Jadou from Spectral Force 3 to me...so I suppose I must approve of this cool Though I don't have the authority, thats up to the master person.

And yes I just noticed that. I will remove the power, and it'll be good yes? And what in the nine hells should I have for a weapon? nothing exotic screams 'Devil Painter' to me besides something rediculous like a paintbrush modified into a blowgun >.>

Yep, yep. Both approved.

As for the weapon, if you want it to tie in to her role as an artist... maybe sharpened paintbrushes tied together into a boomerang?

Uniform Color: purple
Hair Color: pink
Eye Color: red
Maid Types: Lolita & Heroine
Special Qualities: Foreigner, Vampire,Spider,Albino,Angel/Devil
Favored Attribute: Will
Maid Power: Hard Work, Persistence
Maid Roots: Admirer of Maids
Maid Weapon: Revolver
Stress Explosion: Spoiled Child

Your name is Lucia. You are 27 years old. You have red eyes and pink hair, and wear a purple maid uniform. You are childlike and heroic; others describe you as spirited, sweet and single-minded.

You speak with a heavy but easily intelligible foreign, non-Japanese accent. You are a vampire, with long fangs, pale skin, an aversion to light and an insatiable appetite. You are actually a spider, and can turn into a human-sized spider or grow six extra arms at will. You are an albino, giving you a very pale, nearly colorless complexion. You are a being from a world beyond this mortal coil, charged with judging good and evil.

You have long admired maids, and through much hard work you've finally become one yourself. In combat, you fight with a revolver. When you are extremely upset, you act like a spoiled child, making demands from the master. Due to your notable Will, you have the ability Hard Work. Your relentless hard work pays off in the form of a +3 bonus to the end result (not the attribute or die rolls) of Skill rolls. You also have the power of Persistence; Whenever you take Stress, automatically reduce the amount by 1 point.

Looks good to me. Interesting power combination, too. Is she going to be a second Devil, or an Angelic Vampire?

In either case, Approved, and feel free to ask if you need any rules explained or clarified.

With three people signed up, I plan to post the RP and Discussion thread when we get a fourth or on Sunday night, whichever comes first.

I just used random until I got one I liked. I just couldn't work with certain characteristics, so I had to work for this. about an hour, several cookies, and five glasses of milk later, viola.

Yeah, I figured you used the random one, but one of the characteristics you rolled (Angel/Devil) lets you pick which one the character is going to be.

Well, actually, the game is one of the ones that very heavily tends towards the abstract, so really the difference becomes entirely role-playing and flavour-centric.

The central mechanic is really simple and kind of odd. You take your attributes, say your athletics of 1, and then roll a single d6 and multiply the attribute by the result.

IE, you attempt to shoot Jezebel with your revolver and she attempts to get out of the way of the shot. Both of you use Athletics (A 1 in your case, a 2 in hers) to make the attempt, then you both roll a d6. If you rolled a 5, times your athletics of 1, your result is 5. If she rolls a 3, times her athletics of 2, the result is 6 and she wins. You then take stress equal to the attack power (6) divided by your defending attribute (1), for 6 points.

If you have more stress points than your Spirit (Will * 10, or 30 in your case) you suffer a Stress Explosion. When this happens, you have to roleplay your character acting like a spoiled child, and only take actions relating to her acting in line with that, until her stress is back down to zero. In a Play-By-Post game like this, we're going to try the 1 Point of Stress Lost Per Post thing.

Note that you can also use this mechanic, with a target difficulty number and higher numbers equaling better results, to determine non-combat actions like Doing The Laundry or Cooking Breakfast or Convincing The Master Not To Feed Me To The Seven-Headed Zarkbladder Monster Under The Mansion. In any of those cases, and even in combat, you can usually decide which attribute you want to use by specifying a way you're using it, although occasionally the GM (Er, I mean, me) will overrule a use ("No, you can't use Will to smash the head of the giant monster in. Not unless you rolled Green Lantern Ring on the Weapon table.") but usually I'll be easy going about it. Also of note, any number of Maids can combine efforts, using a total result to determine success. Alternatively, they can try to compete, using the same basic rules as for combat.

An important rule that hasn't come up is that losing your Maid Uniform for any reason, even voluntarily taking it off, gives you a penalty on all rolls based on which pieces are missing (2 for Headdress, 1 for Apron, Blouse, Skirt (A one Piece Dress counts as both Blouse and Skirt for these rules), Stockings, or Underwear (although this last can be bypassed if you weren't wearing any to begin with). These penalties are cumulative, which quickly becomes a very bad thing.

Favor is earned by pleasing the master or the GM, or through the Seduction rules. You can spend them 1 for 1 to negate stress, 10 for 1 to raise an attribute permanently, or 1d6 at a time to gain a temporary boost to the attribute or die roll on one check or to trigger a random event.

An alternative way to earn favor is to be Seduced. When a character seduces another, they roll Affection or Cunning (Sometimes they can get away with another attribute if they're clever about the attempt) against the other character's choice of attribute. If the seduction succeeds, the target takes no stress, but is unable to oppose the Seducer in combat, but the Seducer must grant favor points to the Target the same way the Master would. If the attempt fails, the Seducer takes stress as normal and is at a penalty to further attempts to seduce that target.

We'll be skipping the Romantic Activities aspect of Seduction, but we are using Comforting, under which any character can reduce another character's stress by either prematurely triggering their Stress Explosion and working through the stress at a rate of 2/post (Or more accurately, one for the Stressed Maid's post and one for the comforter's post), or by roleplaying cheering them up with kind words for 1D6 to 3D6 Stress removed.

I think that's everything of note, but as an example and a precaution, I'll offer a bounty of 1d6 Favor for any player who supplies an important rule I've overlooked.

I'd be willing to have a go at this, never played this particular game, gonna have to see about picking up the book eventually, but I think I get the gist of things from the explaination there, I'll get on the character generator and see if I can come up with something that looks interesting.

I have a maid written up!

Name: Rachel

Age: 16

Colors: Red Clothes, Brown Hair, Red Eyes

Maid Types: Boyish, Heroine

Special Qualities: Vampire, Quiet, Easygoing

Maid Roots: Business

Maid Power: Persistence

Maid Weapons: Glaive (as in polearm), Magic

Stress Explosion: Rampage

Athletics: 2

Affection: 2

Skill: 2

Cunning: 1

Luck: 1

Will: 4

Spirit: 40

Starting Favor: 4

Rachel is a vampire who was running short on funds when she found a job as a maid at the mansion. She has a tomboyish personality (which will make it easier for me to RP her), and is rather outgoing. She's just doing the maid job for the money - she's not trying to have fun, though she'd be more than willing to do so. Ability-wise, she's pretty average, even lackluster in some areas; However, she is remarkably strong-willed, and able to handle a surprising amount of stress. All that bottled up frustration does occasionally get too much to handle, though. When it does, she can't help but blow up everything in sight to vent her anger. In combat, she uses magic as well as a glaive - the perfect balance between offense and defense, she says.

Wait, is it okay for me to have more than one weapon? If not, I can just stick with the glaive.

And now that I look at the Master's profile, does he even have money to pay her with? If not I'll have to change her maid roots...

Only one weapon for Maids, yeah. Butlers get two because they're awesome, but they're not available. ;)

As for Maid Roots, don't worry too much about that, as you'll see in the first post that's kind of been handled by my natural tendency to add storylines even to the silliest R Ps. <.<

Sorry for the delay on it, folks.

Discussion here

Anyone who still wants to join after reading that terrible introduction is welcome to it, since the setting and backstory make it easy for new maids to randomly turn up.

Whoops, in my excitement to get the threads posted and the game started, I nearly forgot to specify: Rachel, approved! *Stamped*

Could be either of those or affection, actually. Could even be cunning if that's the way you want to play it out.

Skill would wake the Master in a professional, courteous manner befitting a well-trained Maid.

Will would be a "Now, Master. It's time to get up, and there will be no complaints out of you." with a bit of a hard-ass attitude.

Affection would be used to gently nudge her out of bed kindly and sweetly with your feelings of care for her.

And Cunning could, hypothetically, trick the Master into waking up by, for instance, pointing out that, "Well, I suppose there's not really any reason to get up. I mean, not like you had any big plans to get the ruins cleared and livable today, right, Master?"

Pretty much the only options I wouldn't recommend even if you come up with a good RP for it are Luck (waking the Mistress by hoping something good happens to her randomly?) and Athletics (literally hauling her butt out of bed physically). While both of these are valid options, really, they're not really going to earn Favor. Or at least not much. At least not with a Master who doesn't have the Masochist trait.
