what
I mean, what's the hottest form of media in the U.S.?
Ok let's see Persona 3 the characters get "Evokers" gun like devices that you point at your head and pull the trigger and summon your Persona. In the FM Vs you see glass like shards fly out of the other side of your head....
Add to that the opening movie you see Yukari attempting to gather up the courage to do it, sitting on the floor in a bathroom with the sink running, crying with a gun to her head before she drops it on the floor... Yeah... All without any explanation of what she is doing.
No complaints.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!
Isn't that the reason they switched to cards in Persona4?
Is it just me, or did you copy paste this post from another thread?
P1 and P2 were cards as well P3 just tried to switch things up and go with a darker Emo type story, P4 went the entire other direction and was so happy it's motif is yellow! No seriously it's the happiest SMT game. (also Midnight channel and the Dark hour different things.)
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!
Copied from the page eh? Yeah I know it's happy, so happy it's almost campy. Stylish and cool, like the 80's.

Magical Girl genre not popular in America?
Hello.
Just because anime magical girls aren't as big in America doesn't mean Magical Girls as a whole aren't popular.
Not to mention Sailor Moon is still generally known even among boys in America. (Even if only as that one show their sisters watched).
Heck, the Japanese got the idea from America in the first place: see Bewitched.
I'd say the bigger aspect here is that there are already some well established Magical Girl traditions in American media, so there is not the need felt to fully borrow from a foreign medium.

Yeah... but remember he's asking about anime magical girls. And it's in anime the genre was turned up to eleven.
@Madoka dub: Sweeeeeet. Now let's hope they don't fuck it up.
And Sakurazaki, you have a lot of good points, but could we please simmer down a little? Skippy Granola's dreamcatcher is picking up some bummer vibes :P
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial
More like anime is not as insanely popular outside Japan as it is inside. Demography, export and license cost are the main reasons. Only people who loves anime, manga and games to the core, would follow new anime.
Actually, While anime isn't being shown on Tv here in the U.S. much anymore, the popularity actually is increasing. Anime Cons keep getting bigger every year, and some are already close to rivaling some of the Comic Cons. Anime on the internet has caused a surge in the Mediums popularity.

But you're talking about a larger 'hardcore' audience. The casual mainstream audience doesn't really care. What was the last major non-Miyazaki film to get some sort of theatrical release here, even if it was a limited engagement, Rebuild of Evangelion? I think a big reason is American distributors and broadcasters, rather than pay licensing for stuff they don't own, would rather create their own franchises to make money off of.
And that.. would be the end of anime in America... You guys MIGHT be the last generation of fans!

Hey, there are still kids anime airing in the US. * It all depends on whether those kids would find out more about anime as they grow up.

Follow me on tumblr!Well, the first time I saw pokemon years ago, I mistaken it for a western cartoon. And the following, except Dragonball, can be mistaken for western animation as well. I imagine Bleach, Naruto and One Piece not airing there anymore.
