@ captainpat: I understood NUL Lc Hi LD 27 post as saying that it was marketing departament's decision that was infulenced by Glover, not Bendis'.
You know that currently Luke Cage is no longer using Power Man nickname, right? Some kid that pooped out during Shadowland does.

Oh god, I hope so. And Batman can be replaced by a Palestinian/Polish film buff and fall through a time rift, end up in the Ultimate Spider-Man universe and fight crime together
lol.

Like what?
What difference?
EDIT: Okay, there's the tiny stars on his shoulders. These are neither practical nor numerous.

I don't see what the big deal about this thing is. Okay, Peter's dead. That's sad. But just because he's dead on gone doesn't mean the identity has to go with him. Besides this is the Ultimate universe, which was meant to be a renovated version of the mainstream line. Many of the characters are starting to get replaced with different people and races to boot. Have we forgot about Nick-motherfuckin'-Fury and The Hulk (who took the serum before Banner and became a cartel boss). If this were the classic 616 canon and Petey met his maker (for good), then maybe it'd be a reason to overreact.
And why is everyone acting like this is new? Yeah most of the incarnations are basically Peter Parker, but there is one guy that took the mantle in a different timeline. Have we forgotten about Miguel O'hara? The guy who's half-Latino and half-Irish? The guy became an intergalactic ruler.
To me, what matters is whether or not the story is well written. If the character has depth, traits that make him stand out (other than ethnicity), and a good backstory and plotline, that's cool. But if it's nothing but the same thing but with a color swap, it's a turn off. If it's a jaunt poking fun at his race and using his powers for simple tricks, making the whole thing an old Mencia or Chappelle joke (or an early Power Man comic), then it's a waste.
"Bad guys do what good guys dream."Wait wait wait... What the hell id OMD have to do with racism?

Let's make a TCG!So much for this being "totally Bendis's idea".
Because white people don't have ethnicities! We just spring, fully formed, from the ground! We must be the default, and everyone else is the variation on the all-pervading whiteness!
...not Quesada's fault. I just think 'ethnic Spiderman' is a bad way to put it, considering Peter Parker had an ethnicity, Wolverine has an ethnicity, everybody in Marvel Comics has an ethnicity. It's not something that magically only occurs in Luke Cage, or something.

So the new Spider-man will have Troy from Community's personality?
