So basic rundown:

  • Saying that a show/book/whatever sucks= alright.
  • Saying that fans of show/book/whatever are idiots= douchebaggery.

[up][up]Well you're attacking the material itself, which is fictional. Personal attacks on people just based on their preferences are kind of low though. Really if you have to attack the fans it makes it seem like you don't have much of an argument about why the actual material sucks.

Thank you so much for your detailed, spoiler filled summery and opinions formed from it.

I can see being insulted when insulted. I dunno, maybe it does suck, maybe the fans just have nostalgia from their kid years? I mean I don't like Furry Fandom or shippers. That doesn't mean the people are "undesirables", it means we have different opinions and I don't happen to like a few. Obviously, we'd never get anywhere if we avoided everyone who provides services we like just because they have weird fetishes.

But critics think they can get away with saying such things because people have boosted their egos by praising what amounts to their opinion. I suppose there are respectable pundits too?

Once again, it was Roeper who insulted the fans. Ebert just panned the movie.

[up] This. "Loathing would be too mild a term" is just an opinion, but "hope to never meet these people" is clearly an insult.

It's one thing to point out the bad things of a movie or other such mediums but attacking and insulting the fans seem rather uncalled for and rather unnecessary.

It's quite possible that fan haters hate on fans b/c they blame them for having to review certain things.

Do not obey in advance.
