Kid with the Leash seems rather small considering any real summoner is this, that is an issue.

Kid With The Remote Control should be on the Super Robot Index as a character type.

However I do think that Gigantor 1956 is the trope originator here.

The earliest Western example is "Frankenstein Jr is a Hanna Barbera cartoon strongly influenced by Gigantor." which was 1966.

Kid With The Remote Control is not limited to robots, it is about a child having control over a powerful being. The examples on the page seems unneccesary limited.

I am not sure if this really originated in anime, the giant robot aspect maybe, the general control over mighty being not really.

Kid with the Leash is a subtrope of The Kid with the Remote Control. it is about the kid having control over some evil being. The kid is the moral compass who has to keep it under control... and more importantly not fall victim to temptation.

We could always split. Kid With Control as the supertrope, remote for robots and leash for evil.

[up][up] A lot of the examples on Kid with the Leash are just normal Summoners Summon Magic like Yuna.

[up][up]I don't see any real need to split it, storytelling wise there is not a big difference between a child controlling a dragon or a robot.

[up]Then this examples belong to The Kid with the Remote Control, as long as the summond being is not evil and the child has not to be careful about not beeing corrupted and keep the evil beeing under controll.

Kid with the Leash sounds like it should be the supertrope, name-wise, not Kid With The Remote Control.

I actually like the leash name, leash implies the guiding, keeping something wild under control, power struggeling part. Just because you leashed your dog, doesn't mean you have 100 % controll over it.

Remote control is not to bad either but maybe a bit to much technical sounding making the trope appear limited to robots.

Okay, that was a mistake of a discussion. Either start a TRS or move on.

Motion to move The Kid with the Remote Control to Remove.

Support.

Dropping in to give my support for removing Kid With The Remote Control.

It will probably be a while longer before I can jump back into this effort as my schedule is still limited, but I want to thank everyone once again for keeping up the good work.

Moving now. Is there a way to link Sandbox.Stock Japanese Characters to the top of the page?

The name Kuudere is Japanese, but the rest of the trope is not. Neither the character type nor the examples, nor even the page image are anime specific.

I agree the only Japanese centric part is the name.

It's popular in Japan but nothing restricts it to Japan.

Motion to remove Kuudere.

[up] It's in a decline in Western Culture outside of children's media now that hippies are tending towards deconstucted, but it's still a general trope.

Kuudere is in desperate need of a rename, because it's not an anime trope. It's very much a trope, but the name is horrid.

Start a TRS then. Don't forget to move Kuudere to the "In TRS" section.

Vote keep ~10 examples completely drowned out by Japanese ones.
