But... He-Man was a terrible show. It was always a terrible show. There's no better version: they're all really bad. All of them.

Lol, anyways, on to seriousness:

I'd say it depends on the show, but I will say that I feel shows on average were better a couple decades ago than they are now - for a very long time that only seems to be lifting recently the average cartoon seems to be not only limited in how creative it can be, but doesn't seem to take what they're doing or their audences too... I guess "seriously" is the best word, so instead of even completely out there stuff that was done in a witty way we got a lot of irreverent stuff with a lot of face value humor and exaggerations for the sake of exaggerations.

So while there are still great cartoons coming out, and have been for decades, I feel that while the best of today stand alongside the best of the 90's and the 80's, the mediocre and middle-of-the-road of today is leagues below the mediocre and middle-of-the-road of the 90's.

However, again, I feel like wit and smart writing are, slowly but surely, starting to become a fad again, spurred on by some very successful shows. You're definitely seeing it a lot more often that you used to.

While I don't think that any show deserves hate, I do think that new cartoons are generally bad. In fact, FIM is the first one I liked after Dave The Barbarian (which was Too Good to Last).

However, due to my dislike of modern cartoons, there are quite some I haven't watched, so there may be some that are better.

I like a lot of current shows. Maybe because I'm a younger person.

Action though has been lacking in recent years, but it looks like that's starting to be corrected.

They see me BROLIN, they HATIN'.

Actually the 2000 He-Man is quite good. Or at least infinitely better than the old one.

Anyway, plenty of bad stuff in 80's and 90's but people are clouded to see them.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I despise and despise arguing with nostalgia whores!

And that's my post on this matter. nostalgia whores ruin everything with their ilk.

The sooner they learn suck is eternal, the better, if only to help them out...

In Neo Arcadia, there are no politics. Just Law, Order, and judgement. And violence - LOTS OF F***ING VIOLENCE! YAY, VIOLENCE!!!

No. Just no. That is my response to the title of this thread.

I'm really starting to get annoyed with people that hate anything new. And the funniest part is, the things they complain about are almost always directed for a younger demagraphic anyway. It's obviously supposed to attract to younger viewers anyway, so it's not really a surprise if you dont like it. And I was born in the early 90s, I've seen all the shows people say are the best cartoons ever. They're good shows. That's all I can say. I have no idea why people think shows from the 90s and such are fucking amazing, other than the fact that they were the cartoons they viewed in their precious childhoods.

Actually, I prefer cartoons I view now to the ones I viewed as a child. Not that the shows back then weren't good, because they were, but just not "OMG THIS IS THE BEST SHOW EVAR!!1!"

I'm not trying to offend anyone, and I apologize if I do. But I'm just saying some people have their nostalgia glasses glued to their faces.

I'd also like to add...

"Oh yeah? Well my younger sibling enjoys a cartoon from the 90's!"

Or similar arguments. Do not use that to prove that a show from a certain era is automatically better.

Agreed. And I really hoping they do the same with She Ra.

Most of them definitely deserve it. Sure there are a few good cartoons here and there with decent enough animation like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and The Amazing World of Gumball, but other than those, I can't think of much good cartoons that are still running and I think that animation is going through a major Dork Age again like they were in the 1960's and 1970's and the bad definitely outweighs the good in this era. The main problem with cartoons nowadays is that most of them have terrible flash or CGI animation that look really cheap, most of them rely on nothing but fart jokes, randomness and gross-out humor (Fanboy and Chum Chum and Almost Naked Animals, and Sidekick being a perfect example of this), and most of them only appeal to children (Heck, from what I've seen of cartoons nowadays, I bet even a young child would shake their head at them) and nothing more instead of appealing to children yet at the same time appealing to the older audience and the parents watching it with their children with Getting Crap Past the Radar and Parental Bonus. Another problem is all of that mass-produced flash-animated garbage from Canada like Sidekick, Almost Naked Animals, and Johnny Test. However, I have to admit, cartoons have been improving since 2010-Present with some of the shows on Cartoon Network like Regular Show, Adventure Time, Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated, and The Amazing World of Gumball and cartoons are most definitely doing better than they were in 2008-2009.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, every show is a case by case scenario and it's asinine to say that cartoon at any given time or era as a whole suck or are great, because there will always be something great on, and there will always be a steaming pile. Most of the time it will be a steaming pile, but that is true of every aspect of life, not just animation. Each show deserves to stand or fall based on its own merits, not the time period it comes out in, the company making it, the channel airing it, the people funding it, and so on.

I love Adventure Time, but I hate 90% of everything Frederator puts out, does that mean everytime I gush about AT, I should preface it with "It's pretty good, for Frederator? Should my hatred of most Dreamworks movies effect my love of the first 2 Shrek films and How To Train Your Dragon?

Everything should stand or fall based on its own merits, not on the merits of what came before it.

I like cartoons from last decade more that cartoons from previous (90s) and definitely more that 80s cartoon (that time was still dork age for me). And today cartoon are great to. I'm gess nostalgia fillter work in reverse to me.

And really those cartoons are that hated? Yes they are hated by nostalgic nerds, and adult beliving in Cartoon Getto, but kids today love new cartoons and many cartoon geeks or other adult to.
