Upon hearing the voice Grey jumped due to how unexpected it was, though when he noticed it was the blue haired woman from earlier he relaxed.
"An apocalypse?" repeated Grey, apparently needing to do so in order to mull over the idea himself. He had no idea what living through such a thing would be like. Ouroborous wasn't exactly apocalyptic in nature unless Master Albert had succeeded - most of the mechaniloids attracted by it simply swarmed in and around it in order to protect it, and reshaping the universe would probably have changed things too wildly for it to be considered an apocalypse. He had heard Earth had undergone an apocalyptic war centuries earlier, but if it had it certainly wasn't showing it. "...Then what caused it?"
Nodding in assent to Cletus, Grey dashed out of the room and told Chun-li and Jail that it appeared to be safe inside, returning a few minutes later.
Locking you up on radar since '09Scorpion needed to avoid a fight for the moment, considering what had just happened before he entered the portal. When the fight was concluded, he bowed to the knights silently.
"Shouldn't we ask where the capital city of this kingdom is?" he said once the knights had turned to continue on their way.
J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!After making sure no one was out there, Chun-Li finally followed Jail inside as well, "So where are we?"
Chun-Li was after all curious about this place.

Wizard Needs Food BadlyLink looked after the leaving soldiers for a while, before turning to the rest.
"So... any idea where we're going first?"
"If I had some leads, then maybe we could track her down... something personal, maybe, like a haircomb or a mirror..."
"I think we should ask around for directions to her castle. Or something."
Looking around with sharp eyes, the Hylian began to scan the horizon for any signs of nearby habitation.
"We could always follow them into the mountains, though," he muttered, almost as an aside.

Subaru glared in Jail's general direction and then noticed Chun-Li coming. She must had taken a slightly different entrance to get here she decided. She hadn't seen the two others.
“I'm not sure I want to know what could cause all of this. But given how dark it is outside and the cloud cover, I'd say something big slammed into this planet or blew up, sending dust into the atmosphere. Cut off the sunlight and dropped the temperature.”
"...I guess that would make sense," admitted Grey, noting Subaru's reaction to Jail. He guessed it was better to ask now rather than later, once he had chipped in with his own thoughts. "Aside from certain weapons in my universe, I can't really compare this to anything else, apart from a war that happened a couple of centuries ago... and I wasn't around to see it, obviously. By the way, I don't think I caught your name. I'm Grey."
He would have held out a hand for the TSAB agent to shake if his hands weren't full with his busters (he half-wished he could make them disappear and reappear with a thought). "...I don't mean to be rude, but why're you acting weird toward Jail?"
The 14 year old found it funny in a way that he was now more concerned with manners than he had been before. In fact, he had spoken rather frankly to the rulers of the world, of all people, but here he was trying to be polite. Had his time among everybody else caused something to rub off on him? It was a curious thought, and one that wormed its' way further into his mind.
Locking you up on radar since '09Jail overheard Grey's question halfway to the device and it made him sharply turn and head back to where the two were.
"So, you want to hear the story of our world?" he exclaimed, lifting his hands in the air. "How TSAB has created me and how I rebelled against them? And the grief that I caused to Riot Section 6 that was tasked with stopping me?"

Come on, prehistoric guys, you're in a fight! Do some fighty things!
Myth:
The Champions capable of using the circle would find themselves on the rock, floating above the clouds. The sun was visible here, and the grass and flowers gave off a very spring-like feeling. In the distance, similarly floating continents could be seen, many of which were adorned with gleaming structures. The one they were on had a city of it's own a short walk away from them.
Meanwhile, those left behind in the blizzard would notice that it was beginning to die down a little bit; while still very cold, it was now possible to see the terrain a little better. There were quite a few mountains around, and trees that were able to survive in the harsh conditions. A particular valley between two mountains held an eyecatching feature: what looked like firelight, reflected on the snow.
War: Aside from the cathedral, which was the closest building to their location, Link would see a large-ish town about an hour's walk to the east. North of that was a forest, with a castle rising out of the trees visible in the middle.
The figure looked back momentarily. "Yes... that'll work well enough." before continuing on his way towards the keep.
PA: "Trader? We don't have anything to trade. Anyone who once knew how to use most of this died, and everyone who knew how it works died before that. We can't even get into the main city," he motioned the large door, "because everyone who the security system recognized as a citizen is long dead, so we must be invaders if we try to go in."
"Oh, that?" he said, as the machine made a hissing sound and gently discharged it's inhabitant, who looked curiously at the newcomers. "That's our Enertron. It's the only thing keeping us alive without food. And it's probably going to run out of power at some point..."
"Of course there was an apocalypse! Where the hell have you been to not know about the Day of Lavos?" He quietened down. "I mean, it was 300 years ago now so no-one knows what really happened anymore, but you can see the results everywhere..."

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Grey felt a familiar prickling at the back of his neck, the sort that he usually got when he felt something major was about to be revealed. When you got stabbed in the back enough times you started to gain a sort of 'sixth sense' about revelations, even if they weren't necessarily involving betrayal. Deciding to ignore it for now and briefly returning his attention to the survivors, he said, "But 300 years? Surely you must have started to get back on your feet by now. This doesn't make any sense..."
He then decided to address Jail, feeling slightly unnerved by Jail's hand gestures. "I don't know what this 'TSAB' or 'Riot Section 6' is, but you said you were created, didn't you? Were you made for the same reasons as me? Why did you rebel? Was it to stop something like... like... the Game of Destiny? "
He hoped fervently it was the case. He didn't feel entirely comfortable about where the conversation was going, but he wasn't about to assume the worst, either. Jail was an ally of his, and he felt that he needed to give the scientist the benefit of the doubt.

Locking you up on radar since '09Rey sighed, glancing around, seeing the nearby cathedral. "Hey..." He turned to look for the adventurers, but not seeing them, shrugged and pointed out the church to the others. "We can just run in there and ask for directions. They might even have a map or something." He nodded to the others, heading that way. "Wait here, I'll be right back." He took off in a bit of a jog towards the cathedral.
Easing back into life one step at a timeCletus walked over to the Enertron, taking a few small batteries out of his bag, as well as a flashlight. He began looking around in it.
"Grey, fun fact about the apocalypse. Shit goes down. Plants don't grow right. Animals turn into something else. The water gets tainted, the soil goes dead, and people go crazy. They're lucky to be alive."
He began to look at the wires.
"I think I've got this figured out. You guys mind if I stick some Microfusion Breeders in there?"
...and that's terrible."I picked snippets of your story while we were in your world, and no, it is not like that," Jail slightly calmed down, crossing his arms. "I have been created by peacekeepers of the many worlds, ignoring their own laws, to bring them the technology and magic of long gone empires. I didn't like the control they tried to exert upon me and went rogue - and the fools kept supplying me for scraps of technology I have created and killing their own soldiers to keep the ruse!"
He let out a short laugh.
"Ahh, how delightful half truth it is. It paints them as villains, but to be honest mostly they were not. Mostly they indeed kept the world safe. Erio, Subaru, Nanoha and their other comrades, were in that truly benevolent part. As for myself..."
He once again went into gesturing, though slightly more subdues: right hand to his chest, left outstretched and overall a slight bow.
"I. Was. The. Villain."
He straightened and went back to crossed arms.
"I have not been planning to exterminate the scourge within the organisation that birthed a monster, like some gritty hero could be, no. I was planning to destroy it all. For that I had to go through their defenders and was ready to do anything."
"The most personal gripe Subaru here would have with me," he waved in the direction of the girl, "is probably me kidnapping her sister, brainwashing her and making them fight each other."

"Here we are. I guess my description wasn't exact, but at least we don't have frozen butts. Let's see if anyone's in the city." Xigbar spoke cheerfully to his companions as he gazed at the scenery. He walks a short distance before turning to the pair behind him and shouted," What do ya think of this place? It's pretty interesting." Although he initially asked, he felt he should give his opinion on the area.
[DATA LOST]"I understand, but what if that only happened in your world? It's not like everything works the way it does in my world, either," replied Grey. Any continuation was lost, however, as Jail explained his role in what had occured. At first, all that registered on Grey's face - and in his mind - was uncomprehnsion. His features hardened, and the reploid hoisted both of his weapons to point at Scaglietti, using his armour's features to lock on to the mad scientist.
"So you've been a bad guy all along?! You hurt innocent people and tried to cause chaos just because of your own selfishness?! What kind of person does things like that?" The reploid was almost shouting now. Jail was reminding him alarmingly of Master Albert, not least in his questionable methods. Although he quite frankly didn't give much of a damn about Prometheus and Pandora, he could only imagine how terrible it must have been to be forced to fight somebody you cared about. "You're no better than Master Albert!"
Why did it always have to happen? Why couldn't he start to trust someone without them turning out to be villainous in some capacity. A more sardonic side of him wondered if he should just try to avoid befriending scientists. Admittedly, the TSAB wasn't completely blameless, sending people to die just to keep things hidden a while longer, but indignation quickly overrode that line of thought.
Despite the murderous gleam in Grey's eyes - the same one, perhaps, that Cletus might have recognised in a different form glinting in the eyes of Prometheus and Pandora - and the fiery anger in his voice, the others would have noticed his aim was wavering slightly, and his index fingers remained firmly off the trigger. It appeared that despite his talk, Jail would be in no imminent danger.
Locking you up on radar since '09Jail laughed, throwing back his head.
"Yes you did, Cletus!"
Then his laugh vanished when he turned back to Grey, glaring at him.
"Perhaps I am, Grey. I was a merciless monster. But you know what? Somewhere down the line I have realised that the Combat Cyborgs I have created (just for you Cletus, not from random passer-bys, I made them from scratch), they have been to me not tools for the goal. They were my family and they followed me because I was their father."
He paused.
"I don't care what you still think about me. I am not your enemy and I will keep acting on this."

Grey let the courier push down his busters, though he kept a steady gaze on Jail. Finally, he couldn't maintain it any longer and looked away.
"...I guess I was wrong in one way. Albert never had the decency to do that," said the reploid at length, seeming to deflate rapidly and shrink back as righteous anger left him. It wasn't the stance of an infuriated warrior any longer. Rather, it served to make Grey seem weary and almost fragile, though that was a bit of an exaggeration. "I don't know what to think any more. You've done a lot for me, but I'm getting tired of always being the last to know."
He decided not to offload anything further onto the others. They had a job to do here, he was sure of it - and even if he hated with a passion what was happening to him it was worth it if it meant another world was rid of suffering and evil.

Locking you up on radar since '09As Jack trudged onwards across the snow, he glanced curiously at his traveling companion. Stranger was a new arrival and the samurai knew next to nothing about him save that he was disinclined to speak at length and made use of living ammunition for his weapons. He considered starting a conversation, but decided against. Perhaps when they had found shelter. Looking out through the snow and seeing the faint gleam of firelight, Jack raised a hand to point it out to Stranger.
"There. We should head for the light."
A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving. -Lao Tzu

"Yeah, this is bog standard where I come from, kid. One of you tell the others the place is safe."
He held up a tool kit.
"Point me to your broken things, and I will fix them."
