As the land turned from merely strange to surreal, Jack watched with fascination. He had never seen a world where even the very ground under one's feet could change in such a way. He couldn't help but wonder how the people of this world eked out a living in such a place. But Mangus' comment about the leader of this band precluded asking about the subject. And though it did no good to worry about what they could not change, Jack did hope that the man called Eddie did not come to harm in his zealous pursuit of the Coil.

"I agree," he added to the Doctor's comment. "To abandon one's allies in such a time is not something I would advise, but all great leaders have their flaws, which are often all the more apparent because of their greatness. If Eddie has led you well so far, we must trust that he will be waiting for us when we arrive."

Fluttershy shivered in fear as the scenery changed from being merely eccentric to outright scary. Sure, the Everfree was frightening, but that was due it the environment being completely independent from pony influence and completely unnatural and filled with all sorts of unknown creatures and monstrocities. This place, on the other hand, seemed to invoke fear and hopelessness on purpose.

"S-s-s-s-sorry to b-b-b-b-bother you, um, M-M-M-M-Mr. Mangus," the pony timidly asked the driver, stuttering as spoke. "B-b-b-but why does everything look so s-s-s-s-scary?"

Earlier

Grievious would have noticed when he jumped on the bus that he was not alone, Antroz was still standing there, silent.

Now

Antroz did not appear to be affected by the change in scenery, nor the spped they were traveling at; in fact he was felling slightly less depressed..

I promise myself I would make Karda nui look like this when I get back, all this shadow, corruption....what more can a Makuta want?

The Makuta finally seemed to notice general grievious.

how did I manage to miss his entry?....He could do with a better colour scheme.....are those ears?

Antroz decided to speak first.

"I believe we have yet to introduce ourselves".

Grievous turned to look at the being and spoke simply,

“General Grievous, of the Confederacy of Independent Systems Army.” Well, that wasn't his full title, but it would do.

As he turned back, he could faintly hear Magnus and the others talking through a window. He moved over slowly, taking his time to make sure his footing was sure (the driver left some things to be desired), and then grabbed the upper edge of the railing and brought himself alongside the left window, right alongside the driver's compartment.

“Where exactly, is this...sea?” He asked in his growling voice, to Magnus.

Antroz was somewhat taken aback by the short sharp answer.

Nice guy that......voice sounded like a recorded message, I'm sure whatever system he's part of is outdated and mulfunctioning.

Antroz turned back to look ahead on the road, whatever the black sea was he was sure he didn't need to know.

A black sea probably, thses beings seem interested in all the wrong things.

Mangus chuckled a bit, waving a hand. "Hey, you guys don't worry about Eddie. He can handle himself just fine, and he ain't stupid. He does a lot of scouting and recon and subtle sneaky stuff when he has to, that's probably all he was rushing off to do, was to get an idea of what we're messin' with."

At the question from Fluttershy...and then the similar one from Greivous, Mangus shook his head some. "Man, talking wing horse, and a metal man. Ah well." He grinned at Fluttershy, trying to look friendly, as the little creature seemed terrified, but made sure to speak loudly enough to be heard by the being hanging from his window at the moment even though he was addressing her.

"Well, lil' cutie, we're headed towards the Sea of Black Tears. Legends say it's a sea made entirely of the tears of the world's very first singer, a beauuuuuuutiful creature named Aetulia. She was captured by the very first King of the demons, and they used her as a lure for Ormagöden, the being who like, made the world what it is, which he only did by dyin', after the demons lured him in with Aetulia, and, like, she got real sad and cried alone for an eternity till there was a whole sea of her tears, and then she faded into dust."

Mangus was reciting all this in the same relaxed tone of voice as ever, as though he were recounting what he had done over the weekend. "The sea's cursed, see, so that if you were to drink from it, you'd gain some of her powers...though I'm not sure what those are exactly...oh, but you'd also go completely mad and, like, kill yourself and pretty much everything around you. So basically, all the land around here is cursed and all gloomy and doomy all the time, because the sea has screwed it all up. Some of the people who drank it stayed sane long enough to start building all these little church things, or maybe that was demons...not sure, but then they died pretty quick afterwards so that's why everything's gone to hell. The Teardrinkers I mean, not the demons."

Rey nodded along with Mangus in silence, before adding quietly. "The Sea of Black Tears is very bad news. If we're lucky, we won't actually go anywhere near it."

"You're telling me, man!" Mangus agreed wholeheartedly.

Ahead, it would seem as though they were driving into a canyon of some sort, as there were what looked like mountains jutting in the distance, implying a dead end of some kind would be their final destination. All color seemed to have finally drained from the land, leaving everything painted in shades of flat gray. Even the steel candelabras' fires looked to be pure white.

As the jellyfish swam/jumped through the air Tyrell realized something that should have obvious earlier.

"Damn it. Why didn't I ask our host where to find some beans and nuts? I'm sure he would have known."

Uhg. This thing isn't flying through the air, it's swimming. Looking at the squishy walls while they churn around and we're bouncing all over the place is making me seasick. Urg. Maybe I shouldn't be thinking about food.

The Doctor nods trying to understand the Ocean. Her tears are magical? And black? Hmm I would also assume it passes the woman's own madness onto the drinker.

"Mehir, Eddie is... he's a very unique individual I'll say that much."

The Doctor chuckles like he's just remembering an old drinking buddy.

Florina had opted to fly with Huey, knowing that the pegasus would be spooked if she were to ride in that contraption. She flew up next to Byakuren and Nanoha, but keeping enough distance for Huey to maneuver safely. "Uhm," She attempted to get their attention, but her soft voice might not be heard from where she is so she spoke up a tad louder. Though not that much louder, "Uh, do you mind if I f-fly with you guys? I-I... uhm Huey doesn't like to be cramped up into tight spaces..."

Nanoha turned when she heard someone speak behind them. It was an older girl riding a flying horse. This one looked different from the yellow one from before, and Nanoha guessed that it couldn't talk. She smiled at the girl. There was no reason for her not to fly with them at all.

"Of course you can fly with us," she said aloud.

"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."

I must apologize for speaking of more serious matters, but it would be good to know what enemies we might face when we arrive, and how they will attack."

"Of course. The more the merrier." Gunner replied to the new arrival, pleased to see another pegasus. This was good fortune indeed, laying eyes on such a venerable beast. "If you don't mind me asking, what did you do before you were transported here, Ms. Nanoha? Most mages can't fly without broomsticks in my world."

After crossing a considerable distance, the jellyfish blew along the northeasterly winds at a moderate pace, leaving behind the shoreline and began floating over a crystal blue ocean. Intercontinental flight begun, the thing stretched some of its tentacles into the depths of the water to pick up some fuel, which consisted of struggling tuna that were quickly absorbed via appendage and digested, fluids flowing freely throughout the gelationous body.

"Oh, I'm a..." Nanoha paused for a moment. She'd been referred to by the TSAB as... what? She couldn't quite remember... Oh, right! "I'm a combat mage. Um... that's what the TSAB calls me. Not all of them can fly, though, I think it's really rare... but it's really fun too."

Tyrell watched in horrified fascination as the jellyfish digested the panicked and stuggling fish while they were still alive. Slowly their struggles ceased as their muscles and eventually their brains were dissolved. Tyrell thought he saw some exposed nerves so in addition to experiencing the greatest fear of their lives they must also be in excrutiating pain.

"Excuse me." Unbuckling himself and running to the side of the thing Tyrell leaned out of an opening and threw up. I can never eat meat again.

Almost instinctively, Kohaku got out of her seat and rushed over to Tyrell, helping to keep him steady as he threw up. She didn't seem fazed at all by what had made him feel ill.

"There, there... If you like, I can give you some medicine. Might help you get through this better, ufu~"

I wonder... What they're talking about outside? Hmmm... It would be nice to fly like that, I guess.

"What sort of military employs children in a combat capacity?" Byakuren asked, horrified. If the children could fight, well, that was fine, but employing them to do so in an official capacity was abhorrent, even to her. Though she'd been remarkably progressive for a religious figure over a millennium before...

She felt it was important to add that.
